STEEL: THE BLOOD OF US
Join us for a powerful evening of film, history and community at Wales' Oldest Cinema, The Market Hall Brynmawr, on Friday 18th September.
Steel on Film brings together two remarkable documentaries made 50 years apart:
The Face of Change (1976) filmed principally in Ebbw Vale during a time of major change for Britain's steel industry.

Steel: The Blood of Us (2026) filmmaker Joe Cornick's moving and beautifully shot love letter to the people of Port Talbot during the final years of traditional steelmaking.

Together, these films explore five decades of Britain's steel communities, revealing how questions of identity, work, family and belonging continue to resonate across generations.
Followed by a filmmaker Q&A and community discussion.

Shot over four years on 16mm film, Steel: The Blood of Us captures the resilience, pride and enduring spirit of a community shaped by steel, while The Face of Change offers a rare historical record of industrial change in Ebbw Vale and beyond.

Whether you have a connection to the steel industry, an interest in Welsh history, or simply love great documentary filmmaking, this is an event not to be missed.

Friday 18th September. Doors open at 6pm, for the screening at 6.30pm.
Please like, comment and share this post to help us reach as many people as possible and celebrate the stories of the communities that built Britain's industrial heritage. Don't forget some of the older steelworkers may not be on Facebook, please tell them for us.
