We show first run mainstream films and a selection of non-mainstream and foreign films. We aim to make going to watch a film an enjoyable experience again with quality presentation, comfortable seats and proper ground coffee and a range of teas and cakes that can be taken into the screens plus the usual snacks and soft drinks. In Autumn and Winter we play daytime Tea Matinees which include a free tea or coffee and biscuits.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated to the GoFundMe page that Karen has set up to help us to raise money for new projectors.
I thought I would give a bit more background behind what we need to do.
We changed from film to digital projectors in 2012, 14 years ago. Modern technology ages so quickly and constantly needs upgrading and digital projectors are basically just computers, how many of you are still using the same computer as you did 14 years ago ?
We can upgrade our current projectors to keep them running while we raise the money to change to new laser projectors. At the moment we have a bill for £6400 plus vat for new cooling fans in each projector (£1000 each) plus internal cleaning and a few other additions.
The main problem is the servers, the hard drives that store the films, these again are 14 years old. The engineer said he only knew of 5 of the ones we have (Dolby DSS200) that are still in use and we have 2 of them. If either of these fail we can't show films at all and the replacements are £13,000 each.
However newer projectors have these fitted in the projector and because the new projectors use lasers instead of Xenon arc bulbs they use nearly 90% less power.
Firstly that will reduce our electric bills and the projectors are the biggest part of that and we won't need a new £800 bulb every 3000 hours. The laser light source is designed to last 50,000 hours.
However the new projectors would cost about £35,000 for each screen.
