Jodie Foster stars in French language mystery drama A PRIVATE LIFE.

The renowned psychiatrist Lilian Steiner (Foster) mounts a private investigation into the death of one of her patients, whom she is convinced has been murdered.

"A Private Life is a slick, quirky fusion of French and American murder mystery thriller genres with a dose of black comedy for good measure! Foster looks as though she is having the time of her life" - 4/5 Movie Marker

Brenda Fricker RIP 💔

Best known for her dramatic roles -- My Left Foot (for which she deservedly won an Oscar), The Field, A Time to Kill, Veronica Guerin, Inside I'm Dancing, Albert Nobbs, all ones we've shown here -- we loved her as Mrs MacKenzie in 1993's comedy So I Married an Axe Murderer ("Wow, you've turned into a right s*xy wee b*stard. Do you know that?" !!!).

A terrific actress who'll be greatly missed ❤

The Odyssey (15) is coming to the Robert Burns Centre ⛵

After the Trojan War, Odysseus faces a dangerous voyage back to Ithaca, meeting creatures like the Cyclops Polyphemus, Sirens, and Calypso along the way.

"Great directors seek out challenges. Nolan could easily have made a Bond film or dissolved into the world of Marvel, but he chose to make an 8th century epic poem into a summer blockbuster. The gamble pays off, as The Odyssey is truly unique cinema." - Clash Magazine 9/10

📆 From Friday 31 July for two weeks

BLUE HERON (12A) is coming to the RBC 🎬🍿

Set on Vancouver Island in the late 1990s, Blue Heron follows eight‑year‑old Sasha and her Hungarian immigrant family as they attempt to build a new life, only to be destabilised by the increasingly dangerous behaviour of her older brother, Jeremy. Drawing on her own memories, filmmaker Sophy Romvari shapes a deeply personal portrait of childhood, family fractures, and the fragility of recollection.

“Exquisite and luminous” — ★★★★★ Radio Times
“Contemporary cinematic works like this are only made possible when the stars align” — Little White Lies
“One of the year’s very best films” — IndieWire

📆 Coming to the RBC on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 July

Robert Burns Centre, Mill Road
