Message from Pauline

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for the wonderful surprise retirement party at Hands That Talk. It was such a lovely atmosphere, and the food was absolutely delicious.

I’m truly grateful for all the thoughtful gifts – they mean so much to me.

Your kindness and effort made the day really special, and I’ll always remember it. Thank you all again.

We are here at Deaf Expo & BDA conference @ NEC B’Ham. The first to come to the UK, this is a fabulous opportunity for us to gain more knowledge for HTT and the local Deaf community. Great to see so many Deaf lead companies and businesses in the one place.

The Sign Language Bill reaches its final stage in the Northern Ireland Assembly on 28th April 2026 when MLAs will hopefully vote to pass the Sign Language Bill into law. The new Sign Language Act will give legal recognition to British Sign Language and Irish Language and provide for the promotion of Deaf culture.

If you would like to attend Stormont on the day, to mark this momentous and historic event, please message me or comment on fda Facebook by the deadline of noon on Thursday 23rd April. Please note places are limited.

BSL and ISL interpreters have been booked for 28th April. Should any further communication support be required, please [email protected]

There will be the opportunity to watch the debate from the public gallery or, subject to availability, via a dedicated live stream in the Senate chamber.

Timings are still to be confirmed but it is suggested that you be in attendance from 12.00 noon.

Following the final stage vote in the Assembly the Minister for Communities, Gordon Lyons is hosting an event in the Long Gallery to mark the passing of the Bill. This will feature a range of speakers. Refreshments will be provided.

Bus will be provided
