Artist Charles Nasmyth takes a fresh look at one of Scotland's literary and musical giants in HAMISH HENDERSON, AN ARTIST'S INSPIRATION 🎨

Often described as a “colourful character”, Hamish Henderson recorded hundreds of songs and ballads from across Scotland, in a bid to preserve the country’s culture for posterity. In this new film, Nasmyth looks at the man behind the legend and asks who was he, really? Why was he inspired by Hamish's personality to paint his portrait?

🗓️ Sun 13 Sep at 5.45pm
🎤 Followed by a lecture from Dr Fred Freeman from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a Q&A

With no aid from air tanks or any other tools to enable underwater breathing, the body as a whole is summoned to its limit. In Wagu, a fishing village in the Ise Peninsula, Matsumi, Mayumi and Masumi dive everyday not knowing what they'll find. Underwater they turn into sea hunters. The Ama-San have been diving like this in Japan for over 2000 years.

On board a ferry, a series of passengers cross a river from one riverbank to the opposite. The journey on the waters seems to expand, the destination shore is unexpectedly postponed, the magnitude of space is blurred.

On a hot August afternoon, the family gathered at the table remembers uncle Botão: the Colonial War, emigration to France, where he lived and worked thirty years as a garbage man. Memories of each are crossed to tell the story of a man who lived a hard life through humor and fantasy, like when he returned to Belmonte, in a van full of trash, turned into a real treasure.
