Imagine this arriving at your door… ❤️

This is the bit of Hygge at Home I will never get bored of.

Starting with an empty hamper and slowly filling it with things chosen to make somebody stop, put the kettle on, light the candle and have a little bit of time entirely for themselves.

Something for a long bath. Something for cosy evenings. Something lovely for their skin. A little chocolate, obviously. And plenty of our own Eva Carys Botanica products, handmade by here at St Helena Cottage.

Then everything gets tucked into this gorgeous wicker hamper, packed up and sent off to somebody who probably has absolutely no idea it’s coming.

And THAT is my favourite bit.

Because when you’re sending somebody a gift, you’re not really sending them a candle, a bath soak or a jar of hand cream.

You’re saying I thought about you.

Happy birthday. Thank you. You did brilliantly. I’m proud of you. I miss you. Look after yourself. Or simply… this arrived because you deserve something lovely.

That’s why I still love packing these after all these years.

It’s not really about what’s in the box.

It’s about who’s going to open it. ❤️

🍂 IT’S BACK. Pumpkin Spice has officially returned to St Helena Cottage. 🍂

And if you’re one of the lovely people who already pre-ordered yours, the wait is almost over; your Pumpkin Spice candles and diffusers are being sent out tomorrow. ❤️

For everyone else… the website is now OPEN.

This is our limited-edition autumn scent and, quite frankly, if you could bottle that feeling of coming home on a cold September evening, putting the lamps on and deciding you’re absolutely not going back out again, this would be it.

Warm cinnamon, spicy clove and nutmeg come together in our natural essential-oil blend to create a gorgeous, warming scent that instantly makes home feel cosier.

No sickly-sweet synthetic pumpkin fragrance. Just beautiful essential oils and that rich, spicy scent that makes you think of autumn baking, warm kitchens, darker evenings and something bubbling away in the oven.

Choose the Pumpkin Spice Candle for that lovely flickering-light, cosy-evening feeling, or the Pumpkin Spice Diffuser if you want to walk into the room and be greeted by autumn every day.

Personally, I see absolutely no reason to choose between them.

But I would say that.

Each one is made by me here at St Helena Cottage in small batches, and Pumpkin Spice is only here for autumn. Once this year’s stock is gone, it’s gone.

So consider this your official permission to give in.

Put the lamps on.
Get the blanket out.
Make the crumble.

Pumpkin Spice season has officially begun. 🍂🕯️❤️

Available now at Hygge at Home - while this limited-edition batch lasts.

We all have one.

That person who, when you ask what they’d like for their birthday, says:

“Oh, nothing. I don’t need anything.”

Brilliant. Really helpful.

Or they’re the person who simply buys themselves whatever they want, whenever they want it, leaving you scrolling the internet wondering what on earth you’re supposed to find that they don’t already have.

But after almost six years of creating and packing gifts at Hygge at Home, I think we sometimes make buying for these people harder than it needs to be.

Because perhaps the answer isn’t finding something they don’t have.

Perhaps it’s giving them something that makes them feel thought about. ❤️

I’ve written a new blog all about buying for the notoriously difficult-to-buy-for people in our lives: why thoughtful doesn’t have to mean expensive, why little luxuries often make the loveliest gifts and some of the ways you can make a present feel much more personal.

And yes, there are a few ideas for when you’re completely stuck too.

Sometimes the best gifts are the ones you don’t have to choose yourself… ❤️

Our Surprise Me Hygge Boxes have been really popular again lately, and I think part of the reason is that they make gifting ridiculously easy.

You choose how much you’d like to spend, tell me a little bit about who the gift is for and then leave the rest to me.

This is one I made recently and it included a mixture of cosy treats, something sweet, tea, wildflower Seedballs and some of our own handmade Eva Carys Botanica products.

But that’s the lovely thing about these boxes; no two need to be the same.

I wander around the workshop at St Helena Cottage picking out things I think your recipient will genuinely enjoy and put everything together into a gift especially for them.

It’s basically personal shopping, except you give me the budget and I get to do the fun bit. 😂

Perfect for birthdays, thank yous, pick-me-ups, celebrations, or those people who are an absolute NIGHTMARE to buy for.

You choose the budget.

I’ll take care of the rest. ❤️

A couple of things you've been loving lately... 🌿

I always find it interesting watching what suddenly starts appearing in order after order, and lately it's been our Eva Carys Botanica hand creams and Green Clay Cleansing Balm.

Both are handmade here at St Helena Cottage as part of our Eva Carys Botanica collection, and I still get a little buzz when I see products we've actually made being chosen for your Hygge boxes or bought as stand alone products. ❤️

The hand creams are one of those lovely little everyday treats; rich enough to make your hands feel properly cared for without feeling like you've coated them in something you'll still be trying to rub in ten minutes later. And they come in three of our rituals: Hygge, Skov and Blomst.

And our Green Clay Cleansing Balm is a proper little skincare ritual: massage it into the skin, take your time, then remove with a warm cloth.

They've both been popping up in orders again and again recently, so apparently you lot have favourites. ❤️

Have you tried either of them?

Hello September 🍂❤️

I don't know what it is about September, but it always feels a little bit like a fresh start.

There's lots happening behind the scenes at St Helena Cottage at the moment, and I'm getting VERY excited about what's coming over the next few months.

Swipe through for a little September update from us 👉

And I need to know... are you ready for autumn, or are you still desperately hanging on to summer? 😂🍂☀️

One of the perks of having our workshop at home is that I can nip in there when I’m sprucing up the home decor and choose a couple of my favourite diffusers!

I chose Blomst for my bedroom as it’s a beautiful mix of bergamot, jasmine and sandalwood essential oils.

Hygge is perfect for the changing season and autumn approaching as it’s a warm blend of mandarin, nutmeg and sandalwood.

Both made here by hand using natural ingredients and no chemicals ❤️

I think I've officially reached that point in August where I'm ready for the seasons to start changing.

It's definitely still summer at St Helena Cottage. The apples are ripening on the trees and blackberries are everywhere, but the evenings are starting to feel a little different and I've found myself reaching for candles again once it gets dark.

Meanwhile, over in the workshop, autumn has already arrived. Pumpkin Spice is being made, this year's Autumn Gift Box is coming together and everything is starting to smell of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg.

I actually love this little in-between part of the year. We don't have to say goodbye to summer just yet, but there are tiny signs everywhere of what's coming next.

I've written about it properly on the blog this morning - When Summer Starts to Feel Like Autumn 🍂

If you fancy a little read with a cuppa, I'll pop the link below.

If you've received one of our gift boxes before, there's a good chance you've already discovered a little bit of Eva Carys Botanica.

It's the part of Hygge at Home where I get to make things.

Eva Carys Botanica is my collection of natural skincare, bath, body and home fragrance products, all handmade in small batches here at St Helena Cottage. At the heart of the collection are our 10 Rituals, each with its own blend of pure essential oils and designed to create a different mood or moment.

Blomst is one of my favourites. It's a beautiful blend of bergamot, jasmine and sandalwood and you'll find the scent across products including our candles, diffusers, hand cream and bath soak.

It's floral without being overly sweet, with the sandalwood giving it that warmer, slightly deeper scent that I love.

I've realised recently that I don't show nearly enough of this side of the business on here, despite the fact that making these products is one of my favourite parts of my job. So that's going to change.

Over the next few weeks I'll introduce you properly to some of the other Rituals and show you a little more of how they're made too. 🌿

If you could choose a scent purely from its name, which would you pick – Hygge (cosiness), Ro (Relaxation), Skov (Woody) or Blomst (Floral/Blooming)?

I know it's only August, so I'm absolutely not wishing summer away just yet! Although, I do wish it would cool down.

We've still got long evenings in the garden, lavender to pick, blackberries and apples appearing everywhere and hopefully plenty more sunshine to come. But behind the scenes at Hygge at Home, I'm already thinking a season ahead.

This week I'll be starting to make our Pumpkin Spice candles ready for autumn, using our blend of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg essential oils, and I'm putting together this year's Autumn Gift Box too. There's something slightly ridiculous about planning cosy nights, candles and autumn boxes while looking out of the workshop window at a sunny August garden, but that's small business life for you.

Autumn is probably my favourite season for Hygge at Home though, so I'm really looking forward to everything that's coming over the next couple of months.

For now, I'm going to enjoy August while quietly making the workshop smell like October. 😂🍂

Are you firmly hanging onto summer, or are you already looking forward to autumn?
