We also host special screenings, masterclasses and talks by Film & TV professionals. Our nonprofit organisation's ethos is to make all of our events FREE of charge in order to give everyone an opportunity to access events at the festival and we can do this thanks to our funding and sponsorship.

Looking east along Dumbarton Rd towards Partick Cross in 1955.

A crowd of weans queues outside the Western Cinema waiting for the Saturday "penny crush". It opened as the Garrick in 1916 but by the 60s had become run down. It closed in 1966 & was demolished in 1978.

Partick Film Festival 2026 comes to a close after a busy week of events and screenings.

This year we had over 700 tickets booked for our events including 30th Anniversary screening of Rob Roy + Q&A, WGGB Event: How to avoid the mid-career abyss - a writer’s guide., Movie & Meal night at West Side Tavern, River City - A Celebration of 20 years on Screen (FREE), Short Film Screening & Awards, Kids Drama Workshop with Halo Arts (FREE), Short Film Masterclass (FREE) and Film Themed Silent Disco with Ya Dancer Silent Discos.

Our Short Film Masterclass (FREE) at the Kelvin Hall is SOLD OUT, but you’re welcome to wait in line, just in case we have any no shows.

Saturday 24th January 2pm - 4pm for our Short Film Masterclass with filmmakers Robin Haig, Lindsay McGee, Laura Harvey and David Arthur.

Our host Atta Yaqub will discuss with filmmakers Robin Haig & Lindsay McGee. (Slingshot, Hula), Laura Harvey (Hogmanay) and David Arthur (Swan Songs) how they made their short films and hear their tips and advice on how to make a short film.

We’ll be screening the short films Hula, Slingshot, Hogmanay & Swan Songs. This will then be followed by a Q&A hosted by Atta Yaqub with the filmmakers, as they discuss making their films.

We’ll then finish with questions from the audience.
