Lock Up Your Daughters Filmmaking

Lock Up Your Daughters Filmmaking A queer filmmaking collective in Glasgow, UK. The collective is no longer active. Please see the comm Feel free to contact us for more details.

We are filmmakers and aspiring filmmakers who want to get people together to share ideas and skills. We organise project nights, to which people can bring along any scripts or ideas they have. We have made various short films and music videos together and hope to make more! No experience is necessary to get involved and everyone is welcome to come along! We are trans-inclusive and try to be as acc

essible as possible, including using a space with disabled access for our meetings and being aware that some attendees might experience anxiety about social situations. With that in mind, we aim to make our meetings relaxed, informal, and obligation-free, as well as cost-free.

Hi folks, there's a new mentorship scheme for filmmakers in Scotland who are LGBTQIA+, of colour, and/or from an economically disadvantaged background. Successful applicants will get 6 months mentoring on developing their career - or a specific film project - from an industry pro. We have signed up so far as mentors Campbell X, who opened SQIFF 2019 with their film Visible, Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor, producer of recent hit Blue Story, and documentary filmmaker Naziha Arebi, whose recent Freedom Fields has screened across the world.

You can apply if you work as a director, writer, producer, or other in fiction, documentary, artists' film, animation. You just need to have worked on at least one short film in your chosen field.

We're holding an information session and chance to meet the above mentors this Friday 2-4 at Glasgow Film Festival's Hub, DoubleTree by Hilton, 36 Cambridge Street.

Feel free to get in touch with any questions, access requests, etc. at [email protected].

Coming up this Sunday at GFT new film about AIDS and HIV activist group Act Up-Paris in the 90s followed by a panel discussion.

The film is in the French language with English subtitles. There will be a BSL interpreter for the introduction and panel discussion. GFT has level access at its entrance on Rose Street with Screen 2 on the ground floor and an accessible toilet nearby.

Filmmaker Lisa Gornick brings her new movie The Book of Gabrielle alongside her live drawing show, What (the F**k) is Le***an Cinema? to Glasgow and Edinburgh this weekend!!

The Book of Gabrielle is a clever dramedy about an intimate yet platonic relationship that develops between a female graphic artist and an older male erotic novelist. Saul delights in Gabrielle’s description of her past affairs and ongoing relationship with her younger girlfriend, Olivia (Anna Koval), just as Gabrielle likes to explore masculinity through Saul.

To coincide with the launch of the film, director and star Lisa Gornick presents an accompanying live drawing show What (the F**k) is Le***an Cinema? Using pen, paper, and watercolour, Gornick explores where the desires of le***an film are at right now alongside the politics, money, and passions aroused around it.

With BSL interpretation available for the Edinburgh show. FREE tickets available for those who need.

OPPORTUNITY:

Are you passionate about film and want to work in the industry, but are struggling to find your way in? FEDS is a scheme that gives you the ultimate head-start in film.

If you want to get into film but can't see a way to do it, this scheme is for you. FEDS is a proven route into the film industry and you will:

- get eight months of London Living Wage paid training at a film festival or cinema in York, Stirling, Glasgow, Cardiff or Sheffield;
- make a creative contribution, become a valued member of the team and learn a range of skills
- get a CV that will put you ahead of the competition
- attend regular industry sessions that inform you about the whole film business.

This scheme has helped dozens of people get their start in film, with over 80% staying in the film industry.

We want to make the film industry more inclusive. People of colour and people who consider themselves to have a disability are underrepresented in cinema and festival jobs. That's why we strongly encourage applications from these groups.

http://www.independentcinemaoffice.org.uk/training/feds2018

With an eight month long paid traineeship at a top film festival or cinema, as well as mentoring and industry expert advice, you'll leave with a CV that will put you at the top of the list.
