Set in Glasgow during the mid-70s, RATCATCHER follows twelve-year-old James Gillespie, a boy haunted by a dark secret. Feeling isolated from his family, he escapes to a new housing development on the city's outskirts to lose himself in his own world. Caught between the pull of a local gang and a budding romance, James forms an unlikely but touching bond with fourteen-year-old Margaret Anne, offering them both a hesitant experience of first love.
