Happy 13th Birthday to The Olympic!

Thirteen years ago today, Olympic Studios began a new chapter as state-of-the-art independent cinema, thanks to a couple of Barnes locals and a community determined to protect its future.

Today, The Olympic continues to bring people together through film and music, with a new Recording Studio soon to open, continuing a musical legacy that includes The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, David Bowie, Queen and The Who.

To mark the occasion, we’re sharing a few photos from the transformation back in 2013. No small undertaking, as you’ll see!

Every ticket, meal, membership and visit helps keep The Olympic thriving. Thank you for being part of its story. Here’s to the next chapter.

Good company, fresh perspectives and a few late nights. October brings a full calendar to Olympic, with plenty of reasons to settle in and stay a little longer.

Explore astrology with Debbie Frank, switch off with a sound bath led by Ella Richards, or bring a business question to a focused session with Erik and Julia of MAKERS MORROW.

We’ll also welcome Sally Turner of 360 Private Travel for our Inspirational Women’s Breakfast, host the Barnes Charity Fashion Show late-night celebrations, and gather around the table for our Members’ Supper Club.

What a night. Following a screening of Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, renowned music photographer Jill Furmanovsky joined Charlotte Bogard Macleod on stage in Screen One - the very room where she spent time with Oasis during their recording sessions in 2001. A proper full-circle moment.

Jill looked back on her extraordinary access to the band, on tour, backstage and in the studio, including a poignant photograph of the brothers taken shortly before the split. Last year, she was there once again to capture their long-awaited reunion tour.

Come and explore Jill’s photographs on display throughout Olympic Studios, including a selection of previously unseen images, then settle in for the documentary and join us in the Bar & Bistro for a drink or something to eat before or after the film. Tickets for upcoming screenings are available now.

For the first time, The Cloakroom Bar at Selfridges is welcoming a specially chosen DJ for an evening dedicated to good music and good company. Sounds Good marks the beginning of a new monthly night, bringing the right DJ to the decks, low lighting, drinks in hand and an atmosphere that invites you to settle in and stay a while.

Our first edition features SIÂN KARLEUSA🪐, a London DJ who plays across genres and knows exactly how to read a room. Come after work, after shopping or simply for the night, and stay for as long as it holds you.

Bookings are intentionally limited, keeping the room as intimate as it should be.

🎈 Happy 50th Birthday to Aardman! 🎈

Celebrating 50 years of extraordinary imagination, craftsmanship and some of the most loved characters in British film. 🐑🧀🐧

The milestone had us looking back at the time we welcomed Aardman legend Nick Park to The Cinema in The Power Station for a special Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl Q&A. A very special moment for us.

And soon, we’ll be neighbours too, with the Aardman store opening at Battersea Power Station, near our cinema.

Happy 50th, Aardman. Here’s to many more years of cracking ideas and passion for the craft! 🎬

Through Jill Furmanovsky’s lens: Oasis in the studio, on tour and in the moments between.

This September, a selection of Jill’s photographs will be displayed throughout Olympic Studios, Barnes, bringing together some of her most celebrated images alongside never-before-seen shots.

On Wednesday 16 September, we’re hosting a special screening of Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, followed by a Q&A with Jill. Hear the stories and explore the world behind the photographs with the woman who was there to capture it.

Screening at The Olympic, Barnes, The Cinema in The Power Station and The Cinema at Selfridges from Thursday 10 September. Tickets are available via the Box Office.
