Our film tomorrow will be the 2025 Cannes Film Festival Jury prize winner, the German drama:

“Sound of Falling”

A remote German farm harbours generations of secrets. Four women, separated by decades but united by trauma, uncover the truth behind its weathered walls.

In his 4-star review in The Guardian, Peter Bradshaw describes the film as “a mysterious and uncanny prose-poem of guilt, shame and yearning in 20th-century Germany, and the 21st; a drama of intergenerational trauma and genetic memories, visions and experiences suppressed and handed on to descendants and grandchildren in whom they can return as neurotic symptoms of the repressed.”

The film will start at 8pm with no trailers or adverts.

I'm sorry to say that we will not be showing
"A Magnificent Life" tomorrow night.

We have just had word from the cinema that they can’t get this film until later in the year.

I know this will be disappointing but in its place we will be showing a fantastic film, the multi-award-winning Brazilian political thriller:

“The Secret Agent”

In 1977, a technology expert flees from a mysterious past and returns to his hometown of Recife in search of peace. He soon realizes that the city is far from being the refuge he seeks.

Film starts at 8pm sharp! No adverts! £6 on the door for non-members.

Sadly we are can't show 'Romeria' as planned on Monday, and will now be showing the film we had planned as our season finale; the Spanish drama:

"Deaf"

Angela's deafness raises concerns during her pregnancy regarding connecting with her daughter. Post-delivery, partner Héctor supports her as she learns to mother in a society lacking adequate accommodations for the hearing-impaired.

In her 4-star review in the Guardian, Leslie Felperin describes the film as:

"...a bang-on illustration of how cinema can be an engine for empathy, and certainly viewers won’t need to be deaf themselves to get what Angela is going through. It is a moving exploration of the difficulties of new motherhood, a moment full of anxiety and pain as much as joy for some people. The performances are beautifully nuanced throughout."

The film will start at 8pm with no trailers or adverts.

As a reminder, the running order for the rest of the season is as follows, changes to published schedule are shown in bold type:

9th March - Deaf
23rd March - It was just an Accident
13th April - Rental Family
27th April - A Magnificent Life
11th May - The Secret Agent
18th May - Sound of Falling
1st June - Romeria

All films will start at 8pm with no trailers or adverts.
