Just cause you’re raising the dead and call the shots…we’ve brought it back due to popular demand!

After our sell out Halloween screenings at CULTPLEX (all thanks to the amazing Yvette Fielding, Karl Beattie and Antix Productions) we’re back screening spooky, silly noughties TV classic at the venue for a second year - maybe the start of an annual tradition?! - as part of their brilliant month long STAB horror season.

Yvette Fielding’s iconic series of ghost hunts screened in the early 2000s on ITV2 as celebrity guests including Emmerdale’s The Dingles, McFly, Paul O Grady and Louis Walsh & Boyzone delved into the paranormal with her as guide but when 4 members of Girls Aloud (Nadine opted out as she was too scared) put their lives in Yvette’s hands in 2006 TV magic was made!

Heading into a terrifying haunted house (where they hold a seance) and an abandoned sanatorium Yvette, Cheryl, Sarah and Kimberly (Nicola leaves in a taxi!) scream and swear (“Just tap the fu***ng table” shouts Cheryl who also accuses a spectre of being “anal”) and threaten to get into fights with unseen spooks in Girls Aloud’s unique no nonsense style.

Every screening of this last year was a total hoot, if you came to one let’s do it all again, if you’ve never seen it before this show has to be seen to be believed and best viewed in all packed screen!

Ali Plumb – that movie bloke off the internet with the interviews and the specs and the beard – is taking his delightfully nerdy film quiz on the road again… and you should definitely come. Over 50% of tickets are already gone!!

Taking place at FAIRFIELD SOCIAL CLUB with an ACTUAL CINEMA SCREEN (fancy!), he'll be taking his suitcase full of prizes and brain full of silly film-related questions to your local picture house. What should you expect, you wonder? Think 'Guess the film from the Lego minifigure', 'Where's Wally?' but with Paddington and an absolute belter of a big-screen video observation round, trust us.

Urban Artistry Presents... Basquiat (Black + White Edition)

Cemented by David Bowie as a spot-on Andy Warhol, Basquiat’s supporting cast is a murderers’ row of Hollywood legends and art lovers (Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman, Benicio del Toro, Parker Posey, Christopher Walken, Willem Dafoe) lending their talents to one of the high points of 90s independent cinema, an intimate elegy for a once-in-a-generation artistic phenomenon.

Scottish writer-director Ben Sharrock’s (Pikadero) sublime, melancholic comedy-drama Limbo has won festival awards and rave reviews following its Toronto premiere.

On Scotland’s remote Uist Islands, surrounded by gale-force winds and stormy seas, gifted musician Omar (Amir El-Masry) and his fellow Syrian asylum seekers endure puzzling cultural-awareness lessons from an oddball pair of locals. Awaiting news of their refugee status claims, they otherwise spend much of their time queuing to call loved ones on the island’s only payphone, or heatedly (and hilariously) debating the relationship between Ross and Rachel while binge-watching Friends. Carrying his grandfather’s oud with him, which due to a broken arm he cannot currently play, and wandering the desolate, thistly landscape – all potent metaphors for his purgatorial state – Omar fears for his brother, who is still in Syria fighting, and questions his own decision to leave.

Drawing on stories from Sharrock’s friends in Damascus, Limbo imbues its characters, a group of lost souls awaiting both visas and different, more inner types of release, with dignity and individuality. Recalling the quiet, occasionally surreal comedic absurdism of the films of Palestinian actor-director Elia Suleiman and Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki, it’s a sincere and immensely intelligent film about the internal and external reckonings forced upon refugees that also has a wider resonance for audiences in these fraught times.

We're kicking off Claude Barras’s My Life as a Courgette which tears up the rulebook for children’s cinema with a melancholy yet witty claymation that traces the effects of childhood tragedy. That’s before we go full throttle on Friday Night with the turbo-charged, hand-drawn adrenaline rush, anime powerhouse Redline.

We couldn't host an animation weekender without eccentric inventor Wallace and his faithful, friend Gromit. Now that’s a crackin’ day out! Keeping up the silliness we welcome you to A Town Called Panic - a funny, surreal stop-motion adventure of toy figurines starring a bizarre family unit of an adult cowboy and Indian being raised by a horse.

Think you know Alice in Wonderland? Think again. Legendary Czech filmmaker Jan Švankmajer combines live action and stop motion animation in this surreal adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic tale that undergoes an unsettling and dark transformation.

Equal parts cuddly and crude, Unicorn Wars pits teddy bears against unicorns in an ultra-violent, stylised mash-up of Bambi and Apocalypse Now, using animation as a trojan horse to upset expectations as humour gives way to horror…

Lotte Reiniger’s beautiful 1926 silhouette animation, The Adventures of Prince Achmed brings to life magical tales from the Arabian Nights and celebrates it's 100th Anniversary! We had to share the joy of Sylvain Chomet’s much-loved debut feature The Triplets of Belleville (also known as Belleville Rendevous), noted for its inventive humour, idiosyncratic art style, and brilliant score.

Years before Peter Jackson took us on an epic thrill ride with his adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's high fantasy novels, The Lord of the Rings, it was the iconoclast of animation, Ralph Bakshi, who first brought the story to the big screen. Using a mix of traditional cel animation and rotoscoped live-action footage we are taking a trip to Middle Earth to close our wonderful weekender!

A special screening of John Carpenter's 1994 masterpiece In the Mouth of Madness and the harrowing Event Horizon, held as a tribute to Sam Neill who we sadly lost in July.

In the Mouth of Madness sees Carpenter go full meta, in a gloriously fun romp about a horror author named Sutter Cane, whose creations have the habit of coming to life.

A nested doll of nightmares within nightmares, In the Mouth of Madness is one of the great post-modern horrors, expertly treading the line between fiction and reality, and once again riffing on its director’s previous work.

Lovecraftian horror, deep-space isolation and visions of Hell run through Event Horizon, a brutal sci-fi nightmare that takes the familiar idea of a lost spaceship and pushes it somewhere far stranger.

Directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, Event Horizon combines the industrial terror of Alien with cosmic horror, extreme violence and some of the most striking production design of the 1990s. Its vast gothic interiors, spiked corridors and swirling gravitational drive transform the ship into something closer to a cathedral built in Hell.

Dismissed by critics and unsuccessful at the box office, the film has since become a cult favourite, celebrated for its atmosphere, practical effects, uncompromising gore and the unforgettable sight of Sam Neill in full evil-scientist mode.
