The Ultimate Picture Palace is an independent community-owned cinema showing a mix of indie, international, art-house, mainstream, documentary, and classic films. Our single-screen auditorium has 105 seats with a small bar serving drinks and snacks. However, with social distance restrictions in place, our maximum capacity is now around 30. We don’t show adverts, so the advertised time is the actua

l start time for the film. Other regular special screenings:

Classic Films (Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings). Baby Club (Every other Thursday, 12:00) - screenings exclusively for parents with babies under one-year-old. Wheelchair access
The access to the main entrance of the cinema and ticket office is level, as is the entrance to the screen and bar. The toilets are below the screen down a few steps. However, we have an arrangement in place for our customers to use the facilities of our neighbours. The cinema is just off Cowley Road, on Jeune Street and is easily accessible from the bus stop. There is space for a taxi to stop directly outside the cinema and there are a few disabled parking bays opposite the main entrance.

❤️ We were given this gorgeous drawing yesterday by Moeri, along with the sweetest note.

As a Japanese exchange student spending a short time in Oxford, they wrote about finding a warm welcome at UPP, a place they felt comfortable, and an atmosphere that reminds them of home.

It means so much to us to know that our little corner of Oxford can feel like home to someone, even for a short while. Thank you, Moeri.

🚨 STEWART LEE IS COMING TO THE UPP 🚨

We’re thrilled to announce that Stewart Lee will be performing his intimate Pea Green Boat show at three late night events at Ultimate Picture Palace this November - with all profits going to our Save the UPP campaign.

Nearly 24,000 people have signed our petition calling on Oriel College to extend our lease and allow the UPP to remain in the building where it has been a cinema since 1911 - and we're delighted to have Stewart Lee's support too.

Stewart learned about film at the UPP in the 1980s, and he’s coming back to perform his darkly comic response to Edward Lear’s The Owl and the Pussy-cat alongside invited musicians improvising a live soundtrack. Each 25-minute performance will be followed by a Q&A and book signing.

Find out more about the events, the Save the UPP campaign and buy tickets below...
