In 2012 a group of like minded Petworth residents came together with the aim of restarting the film nights that had previously run in Leconfield Hall. With the kind help of individual sponsors and local businesses, we were able to install a brand new HD projector and large screen and a new sound system. Film nights began on two Thursday evenings per month, with a break in the summer months. As the
project has evolved we have added live sports events and now live arts events such as Royal Opera House Live, each of which has brought a new audience to enjoy the venue and add to the success of the project. It was decided from the start that all proceeds should be for Leconfield Hall, whether by cash donations or investing in capital projects. To date, Petworth Film House has funded around £30k of projects for Leconfield Hall, including installing fast internet with wifi throughout, insulating the roof, evolving upgrades to the now outstanding audio system in the upper hall that benefits all hall users, and a digital TV and satellite link for showing live events. We're very proud of what has bee achieved so far and looking forward to helping Leconfield Hall to evolve further into an outstanding community asset.
