We thought by creating some before and after imagery, we can show you just how far we’ve come! 🚧

And even since these photos were taken, there’s more walls up, more wires in, and will be starting on the outer insulation and facade! 🏗️

"One day my log will have something to say about this. My log saw something that night."

As part of Docs Ireland, we’re screening 'I Know Catherine, the Log Lady' with an introduction from director Richard Green. This film celebrates the life of Catherine Coulson (best known as the Log Lady in Twin Peaks) while exploring her work as a theatre-maker, creative collaborator of David Lynch and deeply spiritual presence both on and off screen.

Dressing up encouraged and you're welcome to bring your own log. "Damn good coffee" and cherry pie are included with every ticket, with a prize on the night for best log. 🪵

Doors open at 7.30pm with music and drinks available before the film. Screening starts at 8pm with an intermission, followed by music and drinks afterwards until 11pm.
Tickets £9
Harland & Wolff Staff Club, 8–10 Dundela Avenue

We are looking forward to welcoming you all back to our foyer, which will have lots of natural light with our new curved bullnose window.

Before the renovation this was our ground floor staff room, but soon we will all be able to enjoy the views down the Belmont Road. ❤️

You've all been asking how to get your hands on our book, 'Strands of our Picture House Past', and we're delighted to share that we're setting up a Pop Up Shop!

We'll be in Belmont Bowling Club every Thursday 12pm - 1.45pm from now until the end of June with our books on display in the function room. If you'd like to grab a copy, we'll be taking donations by either cash or card.

A huge thank you to The National Lottery Heritage Fund Northern Ireland for supporting us in creating this book, as well as Rosie, our amazing Heritage Officer, for curating this incredible piece of history, and all of the contributors who have filled this book with wonderful memories of cinema. 🍿

This weekend we were featured in the The Belfast Telegraph about our film and book! The film and book wouldn't have been made possible without the support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund. ❤

“The Strand maintains its place in cinema history as the sole surviving picture house from the 113 picture houses operational here in the 1930s. The treasured 90-year-old art deco building and the activity within it is integral to east Belfast’s social history,” says Nikki McVeigh, Northern Ireland committee member at The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

More details to come on how you can own a copy of 'Strands of our Picture House Past' soon.
