The Barn is an independent cinema situated in a renovated 15th century barn, within the grounds of the beautiful Dartington Hall estate, near Totnes. The Barn runs a wide-ranging film programme, including independent, arthouse, world and mainstream cinema, 3D & 2D BarnKids screenings, live Event Cinema, outdoor cinema, and special events, seven days a week.

Hailed 'a masterpiece' by Mike Leigh and selected for eight international film festivals. This 30th Anniversary Cut has been rebuilt in 4K from the original Panavision negatives, with a new sound mix and every frame restored.

Shot in Panavision CinemaScope at the 1993 festival – perhaps the last of the great, old-school Glastonburys – GLASTONBURY THE MOVIE (15) captured the real thing: not the headline acts on the Pyramid Stage, but the stone circle at sunrise, the rave tents and wandering performers, the parachute games and the Krishna food queues. The Verve at their very first festival appearance. Spiritualized spending their entire fee on a fireworks display. A cast of thousands, completely themselves.

A retired cook, Ruth (stage and screen veteran Kathleen Chalfant) prepares breakfast. It’s a dish she’s often made before, but she keeps making mistakes. When her son (H. Jon Benjamin) arrives, she mistakes him for a suitor, and their 'date' takes them to an assisted living facility, where Ruth feels certain she does not belong. But as she slowly begins to accept the support of the facility’s care workers, she finds new ways to ground herself in her body, even as her mind embarks on a journey all its own.

Writer-director Sarah Friedland’s exquisitely precise and humane 'coming-of-old-age' debut compassionately follows the winding path of Ruth’s shifting memories and desires. Shot on location at a retirement community in California, and boasting a masterful performance from Chalfant, Familiar Touch is a stunning, quietly radical portrait of a woman living with dementia that eschews the usual tropes, instead prioritising Ruth’s perspective throughout.
