The Purbeck Film Festival is the longest running rural and coastal film festival in the UK. Each year the Festival makes a selection of the films that we think our audience will like, and gives over 85 performances in the last two weeks of October in venues throughout Purbeck, Poole, Bournemouth, Bridport and across Dorset. The main cinemas are The Rex in Wareham, The Mowlem in Swanage, the Elect
ric Palace in Bridport, The Lighthouse in Poole and Durlston Castle but we also show films at local village halls and unusual quirky venues. We screen films in over 30 venues, which is the largest number of venues for any rural film festival in the country. Each of the wide range of films is personally introduced and, where possible, filmmakers are invited to give talks about their films and answer questions from the audience. We publish a printed film guide with full details of our October programme which is available at the start of September, and tickets are available on our website. We also screen films on behalf of other local festivals, Careys Secret Garden Migration Festival for example, as well as putting on Open Air films in August at National Trust Corfe Castle, Knoll House Hotel Studland, Careys Secret Garden and Durlston Country Park in Swanage. We can put on a show at special request - get in touch for details and costs.
