Personal Care Assistant (Community Support)
Location: Whitchurch
Hours: Monday 8:30am – 4:00pm and Tuesday 8:30am – 4:00pm
Pay: £13.00 per hour (mileage paid at 45p per mile)
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and proactive Personal Care Assistant to support a 36-year-old gentleman with learning disabilities and epilepsy to access activities within the community.
This gentleman is non-verbal and communicates using Makaton, so experience or confidence in using Makaton is essential.
He benefits from calm, consistent and person-centred support.
About the Role:
This role focuses on supporting him to attend community activities, appointments and outings on a weekly basis.
Responsibilities include:
--Supporting access to community activities and meaningful engagement
--Communicating effectively using Makaton
--Providing personal care when required
--Supporting safe epilepsy management (training can be provided)
--Encouraging independence and choice
--Following care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding --procedures
--Monitoring wellbeing and reporting concerns appropriately
Requirements:
--Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities
--Knowledge of epilepsy (or willingness to undertake training)
--Confident using Makaton
--Calm and confident in responding to seizures
--Full UK driving licence
--Use of own vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
--Reliable and punctual
