Our final screening is Crossing - a moving Turkish drama following Lia as she searches for her long-lost niece, Tekla. After hearing Tekla may be in Istanbul, Lia and a neighbour set off on a journey through a city full of possibility, weaving through its backstreets as Tekla begins to feel closer than ever.

Come celebrate the end of the season with a wonderful film and a complimentary glass of prosecco and homemade shortbread🍾✨

Emmanuel Courcol, France, 103 mins, Comedy, Drama

The plot of this film is simple: two brothers, separated at birth, reunite as adults. One is a celebrated orchestra conductor, while the other is a chef. For one, music represents a thriving career; for the other, it is a hard-earned passion, kept alive within a scrappy village band in northern France.

Combining tender moments with delicate humour The Marching Band entertains while provoking thought. The brothers shared love for music forges an unbreakable bond (and enables a wonderful musical score)

Elderly, isolated widow Mahin invites Faramarz, a lonely taxi driver, to her Tehran house for dinner and dancing. The directors were banned from attending the secretly shot film’s premiere in Berlin; alcohol and the absence of hijabs ‘crossed red lines’ for the authorities. A warm, intensely poignant story.

In this character study of a tormented woman, Mike Leigh explores what drives Patsy to become so scared, angry, exhausted and disillusioned with the world. Every person she encounters, her family in particular, bears the brunt of her rage. Her sister is the complete opposite – positive, lighthearted, friendly, loving.
