The Luxe Cinema LUXE Cinema, Wisbech is a stylish independent cinema located in the heart of the Fens.
(1416)

The Luxe is an award-winning single screen cinema in the heart of the historic town of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire and has recently seen a large investment in equipment and furnishings to ensure that the stellar reputation continues to spread. The cinema is situated within the former Women’s Institute Hall on Alexandra Road, and opened on Saturday 14th March 2009. Since then we have been listed in the Top Ten Independent Cinemas within the UK (alongside many of our Picturedrome Cinemas sister sites), been presented awards by Wisbech Town Council and the Wisbech Lions.

We host the best and brightest of film past and present with regular Event Cinema screenings - such as Ballet, Opera, Dance, Music and Theatre. We love film and when possible we also screen classic films - with appropriate era trailers - and host Q&A sessions with actors, writers and directors (either live on our stage or via Zoom). We also host live music acts, stand-up comedians and even a magic show - on our stage!

There are seats for up to seventy-eight visitors as well as two wheelchair spaces that can accommodate larger, reclined wheelchairs with easier access and and increased turning circle. The rear of the auditorium is made up of three rows of twin sofas for a cosy visit.

Rows G and H seat up to two guests (we can allow babies up to 18 months of age to sit on a parent/carer's lap on sofa seating - but only up to two paying guests over the age of 18 months can be seated on our sofas) with little table trays and cushions.

Row I is our Premier Row with four booth style sofas - each with their own table. This row has more legroom than our standard sofa rows as well as a Text Waiter Service. When arriving, ask the team for the Prem Number and you can text an order during your movie which will be brought to you in your seat. At the end of the film, simply pop down to the Box Office and the team will take payment.

The interior of the auditorium offers a comforable and welcoming atmosphere, where you can cosy up and relax on either a deluxe seat or a twin sofa to watch films in the utmost comfort. Alongside the comfort comes top notch visuals (Phosphor Laser Projection) and sound (Dolby 7.1 via JML Speakers).

As we try to keep costs down we do not allow outside food or drink into the cinema and politely request that guests respect this.

If the Luxe Team do find you have brought food/drink in, we may ask for you to return your outside food to your vehicle, or keep it behind the bar for collection when leaving your film. Refusal to follow these instructions will result in being asked to leave.

Viewing a film at the Luxe is an experience unlike anything you’ve had at a multiplex, you truly are our guests.

Feature film based on the smash hit BBC sitcom Ghosts. The ghostly residents of Button House are adjusting to life without Alison and Mike, but when protesters disrupt the construction of the planned hotel, the ghosts need to find a way to reach their living friends. When an amateur séance goes awry, Julian seizes the opportunity to leave the grounds in the body of teenage ghost hunter Jack. Whilst Julian experiences the outside world for the first time in decades, Jack gets a crash course in the afterlife from the ghosts. But what was supposed to be a temporary switch soon reveals the risk of permanent consequences…

Zach Cregger’s follow-up to Weapons is a new story within the world of Resident Evil!

The film is NOW SHOWING and has a 15 rating from the BBFC.

‼️ Remember - we are unable to admit anyone under the certificated age for films and may ask for proof of age from guests that look under age.

For a 15 we may ask for ID from anyone we think looks under 18.

Why 18, when it’s a 15 rating?

Well - it can be difficult to tell with some guests and rather than try to guess if someone is 15, it is much easier and fairer to ask for ID from anyone who looks under 18 (this is similar to Challenge 25 on alcohol sales).

The Comédie-Française is one of France’s most revered arts institutions, and the oldest still-performing theatre company in the world. There is one golden rule: the play is NEVER cancelled.

Unfortunately for theatre producer Nina (Pauline Clément), everything is unravelling just three hours before the premiere of her first production – an ambitious retelling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Her lead actor is stuck on a train, tensions are exploding, passions flaring, equipment breaking down and egos are clashing. With panic setting in and the clock ticking Nina must hold things together at all costs.

Will the show go on?

France’s hit summer comedy and the runaway winner of four awards at the Alpe d’Huez comedy Film Festival, Comédie Française is a delicious behind-the-scenes farce which is unafraid to poke fun at the highbrow reputation of French theatre. Featuring a cast of real-life members of the Comédie-Française company, this is a gleeful, knowing parody and a sheer delight.
