We're delighted to announce that The Kinema has been named as one of just 15 cinemas across the UK on the longlist for the BIFA Cinema of the Year 2026 award!

With nearly 50,000 votes cast nationwide, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us - we've been reading through some of the wonderful comments left by those who voted, and it's been heartwarming to see just how much The Kinema is valued by our audiences.

When Lady Weigall first opened The Kinema in 1922, she wrote of her hope that it would "bring a little pleasure and cheer to those who live in the neighbourhood". Over 100 years later, it's wonderful to know that her vision lives on!

We're incredibly proud to be recognised alongside 14 other fantastic independent cinemas from across the UK.

The final five nominees will be announced on 3rd November, so we'll be keeping our fingers crossed!

Thank you again for all your support!
