Affluent Parisian couple Anne and Georges start receiving mysterious video tapes of their own home. Under surveillance by persons unknown, the couple fear for the safety of their 12-year-old son. As tapes continue to arrive, Georges suspects a figure from his past maybe responsible-but confronting that person means revisiting old secrets and transgressions.

20 years after its Cannes premiere, Hidden (Caché) has cemented its status as a modern classic. Director Michael Haneke deconstructs the apparently idyllic lives of one wealthy family while shining a light on some of the darkest chapters of modern French history. With its peerless use of video footage and refusal to offer easy resolutions, this is one ofthe great films of the 21st century.

Festivals:
Cannes Film Festival, 2005

Awards:
Best Director-Cannes Film Festival, 2005
Five awards, including Best Film-European Film Awards, 2005

Reviews:
“★★★★★ Hidden is Michael Haneke's masterpiece... It is one of the great films of this decade.”
-Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

“★★★★ Haneke raises questions of guilt, responsibility and complacency that have global implications. Yet he never gets distracted from the business of building suspense.”
-Matthew Leyland, BBC

ℹ️
Berlin, 1942. Hilde ( Liv Lisa Fries) and Hans ( Johannes Hegemann), both German resistance fighters with the Red Orchestra anti - fascist group, fall madly in love. They marry and Hilde becomes pregnant. But as the birth of her son approaches, they are arrested and imprisoned by the Gestapo. Now in a desperate situation, Hilde develops a quiet inspirational strength. However, as she faces only having a few months with her newborn son, Hilde’s resilience is tested to its limits.

Based on the stirring true story of Hilde and Hans Coppi, both executed in Berlin - Plötzensee prison, Andreas Dresen's film is a polished biopic employing a non-linear narrative to craft a detailed and emotionally resonant film anchored by a powerhouse performance from Fries.
