SMILE FILMS... A Smile Foundation Initiative
‘Smile Foundation’ is an India based national level development organization reaching out to over 300,000 underprivileged children, youth and women directly, every year through 158 welfare projects on subjects such as education, healthcare, livelihood,
women empowerment and advocacy. Smile Foundation, believing in the concept of ‘Civic Driven Change,’
continuously strives to sensitize the privileged mass so that they come forward take proactive roles in the development process. As part this approach, Smile Foundation has been using the power of the Audio-Visual medium to bring change at a larger level.
‘Smile Films’ has been formed keeping in mind the foundation’s philosophy and the role of cinema in order to create awareness about some of India’s most-pressing societal and socio-economic challenges, such as access to education, healthcare,
livelihood and women empowerment for millions of the country’s under-privileged citizens.Smile Films, as the name suggests, aims at bringing a smile on the people’s faces through meaningful cinema to sensitize people to act as a catalyst by propagating
messages in entertaining forms. Smile Films, over the years has produced a number of award-winning television shows,documentaries and music videos,and most notably the internationally acclaimed feature film ‘I Am Kalam.’ Needless to say, the effort has not gone in vain and Smile Foundation has won several awards for its endeavours.Smile Foundation now envisions to take Smile Films to the next level so that the exploration of this powerful medium can be done in
