Does a higher screen gain always mean a better projection experience?
Not necessarily.

When choosing a projection screen, screen gain and viewing angle are two specifications that need to be understood together.
A higher gain can influence perceived brightness, while the screen’s optical design determines how that light is distributed across the viewing area.

So what happens when you move away from the centre of the screen?
How does screen gain affect brightness?
And why does the viewing angle matter when choosing a screen for a home theatre or professional AV environment?

Our latest blog breaks down the relationship between screen gain, viewing angle, brightness and image uniformity and explains what you should actually consider when selecting a projection screen.

Your projector may be capable of exceptional image quality. But the final image is not created by the projector alone. The projection surface is where the projected light is presented to the viewer — and that makes the screen an important part of the system.

For a home cinema, the conversation should go beyond projector resolution. Room conditions, viewing positions, screen surface and the way light reaches the audience all matter.

Build the complete projection system, not just the projector.
