The 17th British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg 2026 | Spring Edition has come to a close, and what an amazing five days of cinema, storytelling, and community it has been!

From our Opening Film I Swear to our Closing Film Báite, and every inspiring documentary, drama, and short in between, audiences were treated to powerful stories from Britain, Ireland, and Luxembourg, exploring themes from social justice and identity to sustainability, heritage, and the human spirit.

✨ We were especially delighted to welcome special guests — actors, directors, and producers — for post-screening Q&As each day, bringing audiences closer to the creative process and behind-the-scenes stories. Your engagement and curiosity made these conversations truly memorable.

A heartfelt thank you to our filmmakers, young filmmakers, partners, and sponsors — your support made this festival possible and helped bring the magic of British and Irish cinema to screens in Luxembourg.

🎬 Looking Back: Shorts & Young Filmmakers Competition

During the Shorts Evening at the 17th British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg 2026 | Spring Edition, we were delighted to showcase the incredible talent of this year’s Young Filmmakers Competition 2025–26.

The evening featured trailers from the twelve submitted films, followed by the announcement of the winners and screenings of the winning entries in full — a fantastic celebration of creativity, storytelling, and emerging voices in filmmaking.

🎥 The jury — including filmmakers Eileen Byrne and Nicolas Neuhold, alongside representatives from Film Fund Luxembourg, the Œuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte, partner embassies, and festival organisers — evaluated the films based on storytelling, on-screen performance and technical ex*****on.

🥉 If Doubt Could Kill – Elliot Esposito-Roberts (EIDE)

🎬 Closing Film – BIFFL 2026: Báite

We are thrilled to close the 17th British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg 2026 | Spring Edition with the gripping Irish-language mystery drama Báite.
When a woman’s body is discovered under the waters of a rural lake, the arrival of a detective from Dublin complicates life for Peggy, the owner of Casey’s Pub, who is fighting to protect both her business and her family.

📍 Filmed in Galway, the film won Best Irish Language Feature Film at the Galway Film Fleadh in July 2025, showcasing the talent and creativity of Irish cinema.
🗣 Language: Irish with English subtitles
