Davido shares how he connected his father with the World Bank president during the World Cup.

During an interview, the singer shared that his father had been trying to get in touch with the World Bank president because of a business deal. According to Davido, he eventually met the World Bank president at a hotel during the World Cup, where the official recognised him after watching his performance.

He recalled:

"My dad, he's been trying to, because he has a lot of friends in high places, he's been trying to look for the president of, like, the World Bank or something. Funny, he's been trying to get to the guy. The guy is at the World Cup, sees me in the hotel. This is one of the most defining moments of my life. He sees me in the hotel and says, 'Oh Davido, I enjoyed your performance. I'm the president of the World Bank.'

I said, 'Oh, hold on. Hello, Daddy. I have the president of the World Bank.' 'Oh, give him the phone.' gave him the phone and connected, the deal. That was beautiful to see."

Media personality Solomon Buchi pushed back against Nigerians who criticised the groundnut seller's daughter for her unbothered reaction to Peller's N1m gift.

Recall that Peller gifted the groundnut seller 1 million naira after they joined his TikTok live. Peller, however, demanded his money, insisting that the groundnut seller's daughter, who confirmed the payment, did not show enough gratitude. The mother and daughter explained that it was the middle of the night and screaming would have drawn unwanted attention from neighbours. The groundnut seller then showered prayers on Peller and pleaded with Nigerians not to be annoyed.

Reacting to the viral video Solomon Buchi said (in part), "Thank God that God is not man. As much as gratitude is a good thing, we need to be careful that in our pursuits of seeing people grateful for the things that we've done for them, we are not desiring them to humiliate themselves.

She said thank you multiple times. That should be enough. Not everyone is going to show gratitude in the way that you want to show it.
What do you guys want again from her?

My issue is not just what Peller did, but it's the number of Nigerians that are agreeing with it. Even if she was not even grateful, you are privileged. It should make you more merciful to people. If God used his privilege over you the way you tend to use it over other people, you would not be where you are today.

Am I saying people should be ungrateful? No. But what really is gratitude? Is it the theatrics, dramatization, exaggeration? The heart of gratitude. If we hone in so much on the dramatization, we will only create people who have mastered the art of dramatizing gratitude even when they don't mean it.

And finally, may our families never be so poor and wretched that they have to rely on social media people who sometimes don't give out of generosity. They give for a sense of self-importance."
