A massive thank you to Rodney Local Board for funding this years and the next two years Arts in the Ville event 😀 🙌

The hardest thing about planning, is knowing whether we will get funding or not. We have seen project funding cuts over the last few years which can be limiting on what we love to offer our community. Being accepted for the Rodney Local Board Partnership fund means we can plan further ahead, and continue this much look forward to annual arts trail event which sees thousands of visitors free of entry through our rural town each year 🫶🙌

This year is ARTS in the VILLE 11th year! The partnership Fund will see it through to year 13, thank you Rodney Local Board and Mark Dennis for supporting this community event 🥰

Event Partnership Fund 🎊

We recently signed off our latest 3-year Partnership Fund which is a dedicated fund to help support community events across Rodney. We are proud to announce that we will be continuing to support the Helensville Santa Parade and Helensville A&P Show . In addition to this we will also be supporting ARTS in the VILLE for the first time. We will also be supporting a number of other events right across Rodney to a total of $43,500.

Our Matariki exhibition spreads through all our gallery rooms, with some peaceful moments of sculpture and light.

This room has artist Jess Maher with her piece 'Oh Māmā', a solid lace figure dedicated to Matariki's eldest daughter, Pōhutukawa, the star of those who have passed. Crystal lamps by Gillian Ritson 'Waiti' and 'Tupu-a-Rangi', and Denise Corden 'Navigated'.

Mānawatia a Matariki ✨️

I hope everyone enjoyed the lovely Matariki day yesterday!

We had the most gorgeous celebrations Thursday to mark the event, starting with karakia for the completion of our mural project ❤️, then Matariki Story telling with a visit from Helensville Library in the glow in the dark lantern room, lanterns were made from teaching at the previous week at Craftafternoon kids 😀 Anne Coppell brought the Teddy Sleepover for story time and to visit the show 🫶 so special.

Then we finished the night with the opening of Kupenga O Matariki exhibition, our Raranga Weaving class showed their term work including tutor Maria Kaka exhibiting a substantial display of her own art. Maria offered live weaving on the night! Member artists fill the entire basement galleries making for a rich and full Matariki exhibition 🙌 open until 2pm today!

We have the wonderful Tony Blomfield back tonight to play for our Kupenga O Matariki exhibition 🤩 It's always a treat when Tony plays, looking forward to this special evening 😊
