Hi Community! This weekend we are having our annual Kowhai Art and Craft Open Days! If you have ever thought about trying your hand at something new and creative; or about getting involved with wonderful folks in the local community - come on down this Friday or Saturday between 10am and 2pm. We will have a number of demonstrations from our artists in different craft genres. We will have art on display and even have some pieces for sale! If you're lucky - you may even get a cuppa and something good to eat!😄

2026 marks the 50th year that Kowhai Art and Craft members have been creating in our community! To celebrate, our potters were invited to create a piece each for a commemorative Totem Pole. This is what has emerged from their collective talent and is now sitting pride of place in the KAC garden. Come and have a look!

Great News Community - The Art-full Weekend is almost upon us! Kowhai Art and Craft is proud to present our 50th Anniversary Celebration Exhibition & Sale! Not only will we have a stunning array of works from our talented KAC Members for sale; we'll also have a display featuring art from past members! Come and support your local community, buy some fantastic treasures for yourself or for Christmas presents; and be astounded by the talented artists from our local district!
Each of our crafting genres will be represented at the Art-full Weekend, including: Painting, Print Making,Glass Art, Porcelain Painting, Spinning, Weaving & Felting, Stitch, Flax Weaving, Leather Work, Book Art and Pottery!

Last Saturday the KAC Pottery team were privileged to host Brendan Adams from BAD Pottery (Brendan Adam's Design) for a Slip Printing workshop. Brendan demonstrated various techniques for transferring designs (painted using colored slip or liquid clay). Everyone had a fantastic time and learned some exciting new techniques; and we all went home with our own hand printed creation!

Happy New Year Community! Each year, many of our KAC members are exhibiting in the annual Mahurangi Art Trail. This is a wonderful event where you get to visit the artists in either their home studios or at the main Trail Hub in the Warkworth Town Hall. THANK YOU COMMUNITY!! The Art-Full weekend was a great success and we couldn't have done it without you! Thanks to all our volunteers who generously gave of their time and energy, and thanks to you, the public who came, appreciated and purchased our artistic creations. It's a pretty wonderful thing to create something that someone else connects with and wants to purchase. Thanks for giving our exhibitors that experience!

It was wonderful to give the Yr11 Textile students from Whangaparaoa College a chance to showcase their Upcycling Challenge project. Their display looked brilliant and everyone was impressed with the quality of thir work. We look forward to having them involved next year too!

Thanks also to our main sponsors: a2 logistics Aqua Works - Filters & Pumps Rodney and, most of all, Creative Communities Auckland. We couldn't have done it without you!!

LAST DAY TODAY Community!! We've had two fantastic days of art and fun down at the Matakana Hall for the KAC Art-full Weekend 2023! Thanks so much to both those helping with the event as well as all the people who have come, purchased and appreciated our efforts. If you haven't made it along yet, come on down between 10am and 3pm today (Sunday) for your last chance at a locally made artwork for yourself or a Christmas present for someone else (if you can bear to part with it)! Also, we have our brilliant raffle where one $3 ticket purchase gets you into over 10 individual prize draws!
