SYNOPSIS:
“Ped Xing” bring
s about the scheme of five ordinary townsmen, designing the perfect assassination of their town’s mayor. The tale begins with an anti-hero, Mackie, bastard son of the mayor. His mother died because of his father’s negligence, sparking his desire to take revenge. He forms an unlikely band of common people who also seek retribution for each injustice inflicted upon them by the mayor. All of them thought the plan was a sure success, only to find out that the mission will be jeopardized with the betrayal of the anti-hero’s best friend. Will our ‘avengers’ taste their sweet, splendid vengeance? Or will mayor’s evils continue to hunt them? This action- comedy play depicts the current issues in our society: political, economic and socio-cultural. It will portray the strengths and vulnerabilities of man, and finally will make the audience think once more of the undying question--- what is most essential in life? Staged through a distinct form of theatre called Tula- Dula, signature style of The UP Repertory Company, this celebration of UP Rep’s 40th year will bring the audience the joys of a death, the pains of living and the strive for a continuous struggle towards change.
