High Energy is more than just our store! We host film screenings just about every month! We are hosting three film nights in October, here’s some info on this one!
Michael Mann’s 1983 film The Keep was made at the height of his signature 80s style, slow motion shots, neon sunrises, lasers, lots of fog, and a pulsating score by Tangerine Dream!
The film suffered from a troubled production and the final cut was taken away from Mann, who know largely disowns the film. Despite any of its flaws and its slight lack of coherency, this is a beautiful film!
Until recently the best way to watch this movie with its original score was on Laserdisc, with a recent 4k release, The Keep is looking better than ever!
During WWII a group of soldiers take possession of a disused keep in the Romanian mountains. After they inadvertently release an ancient entity who begins killing them off, they reluctantly turn to a Jewish historian for help.
Come see The Keep Thursday 10/29 at Capitol Theatre Arlington MA at 7:30pm. Advance tickets recommended, you can find them on linked in our bio and on Capitol Theatre’s website!
Also, If you haven’t ever been to our free VHS night Disasterpiece Theatre make sure to check it out, our next terrible film is on Monday 10/26
