Earlier this week, we welcomed LifeStories for a screening of Mario, followed by a thoughtful conversation moderated by Nancy Steiner with filmmakers George Kunhardt and Teddy Kunhardt, and Maria Cuomo Cole.

The film traces Mario Cuomo’s journey from the son of Italian immigrants to a governor whose belief in compassion, dignity, and public service shaped his life and leadership.

One line from the evening stayed with us: “Mario had deep respect for the gorgeous mosaic of the diversity of our country.” — Maria Cuomo Cole

A heartfelt thank you to , , and for sharing this powerful story and helping bring Mario Cuomo’s legacy to life at Bedford Playhouse.

BEYOND THE SHACKLES brings the artwork and stories of women at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility into our community, highlighting the power of art as a vital outlet for self-expression.

Curated by CB Gallery, this exhibition was made possible with the support of Release Aging People In Prison (Release Aging People in Prison), which helped facilitate getting art supplies into the facility and the women’s artwork out.

The multidisciplinary event also featured The Hill by Harriet Clark, with books available through Katonah Reading Room, and a screening in partnership with Rehabilitation Through the Arts RTA.

We’re incredibly proud to bring these women’s creativity and stories into the community and create space for voices that deserve to be seen and heard.

Visit Bedford Playhouse to experience BEYOND THE SHACKLES, explore the artwork, and connect with the stories behind it.

🌎💚 A conversation worth continuing.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on October 1 for an important and thought-provoking conversation about climate change and human health.

Emmy-winning journalist and author David Pogue moderated a powerful discussion with Dr. Sandra Steingraber, Dr. Amy Brown, and Jack Algiere, exploring the connections between climate, our health, our children, our food systems, and the places we call home.

From the impact of fossil fuels and air quality to regenerative farming and ways we can protect our families and communities, the evening offered plenty to think about—and even more reason to keep the conversation going.

A special thank you to for bringing the books and to for continuing to bring important conversations about climate to our community. 🌱
