I AM HUMBLED!!!!

Friday 3/14 at approximately 2 PM a customer came in and said “Your woods are on Fire”
When I ran out I could see flames deep in the draw coming our way. I told Renee to call 911.
I started searching for hoses and finally strung enough together to reach the edge of the flames that came racing toward us pushed by the extremely high winds.
Our local volunteer fire fighters came as soon as they could and stared clearing a break line.
An hour or so later the Forest Service arrived with about 6 or 8 more people and a bulldozer.
All of these people, mostly unknown to me were so amazing. They ran into the choking smoke armed with rakes and leaf blowers, no respirators, little protective clothing or gear. Our local hero’s were in street clothes, some even wearing short sleeves. The heat, wind, smoke and flames were intense and definitely a threat to life, bare skin and hair was being scorched but these warriors battled on.
After hours of intense struggles they gained control and confinement. I offered them food and beverages which some accepted. Most were stowing their tools and gear in a rush to get to other area fires, of which there were many.
Don’t be worried by the state of humanity in our modern times. We may have petty differences in beliefs and politics but there are people like those that came to help walking among us undetected. They are silently prepared to swing into unselfish action just to help a stranger. I don’t know what pushes these people to spring into action when they do but I thank the Lord that he has placed them among us.
I publicly thank these Arc Angels and hope I can pay their compassion and efforts forward.

Thank you all again
Dan Hopper
