Now’s the time! If you haven’t done so already please consider donating to Cicada’s fundraising campaign to open a true DIY community cinema in Bloomington.

Our volunteers deeply believe that community-focused moviegoing is the future of cinema and you can help support that effort in your own backyard!

Reaching our stretch goal will enable Cicada to purchase a brand new projector! We work had to bring the best quality light and sound. A new projector will start Cicada off on the best foot forward as we open up! 🫶

Celebrate Cicada Cinema’s 300th (and final pop-up, until we open the new theater) screening at the Orbit Room on Wednesday, July 15th!

This will be the last day of our big fundraiser. All proceeds go towards our stretch goal of 70K which will enable Cicada to purchase a new 4K projector… a re-animation of sorts!

Wow!! 🤯 Thanks to all of you, Cicada Cinema will receive $50,000 in matching funds from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority to build a new community cinema in Bloomington!

We’ve our fundraising match, but there are still 13 days left in the campaign, so we’re just going to keep on going! Funds will go a long way towards getting the theater built and outfitted, but the more we raise, the better we can make it.

If we can raise another $20,000, that will allow us to buy a brand-new 4K projector instead of the refurbished one we’ve priced out, ensuring that we start out with equipment that will be more reliable in the long run.

So, if you know anyone that hasn’t quite gotten around to donating yet, please let them know that their support will still go a long way towards helping us build a really wonderful little theater for Bloomington.

We still can’t quite believe it, and we are just incredibly grateful and downright overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from the Bloomington community and from film lovers across the country. Thank you!

TONIGHT - preview of coming attractions!

please join us for an Open House at the new theater location!

On Saturday, June 27th from 7-9 PM, we’ll be opening up the space at 615 N Fairview St. so everyone can take a look at how things are coming along. We’ll have music (DJ Kashmere Dupree The Post Radio Hours), light refreshments, and fun movie clips on the big screen.

Unfortunately, the 3D screening of DIAL M FOR MURDER in collaboration with Bloomington Parks and Recreation is canceled due a wet park and rain. Reschedule TBD.

But the OPEN HOUSE is still on. Stop by, see the progress, hang out, and enjoy a sneak peek of Bloomington’s new community cinema!
