I’ll be in Burney today if anyone is interested in looking at the theater. There was some damage recently that I have to check out. Someone tore the screen in half. I don’t know what else they did. 😢😵‍💫

I have received many inquiries about the sale of Mt. Burner and Fall River Theatres. Originally I wanted to sell them together as a package deal. I am now willing to sell them separately. Give me an offer and perhaps we can make a deal. I hate to see them sad and empty.

Sorry we’re closed permanently. Isn’t there someone reading this who would like to buy the theatre and provide the community with movie or another form of entertainment again? Maybe you know someone?
I will consider all offers.

I have been thinking about and dreading this decision for months. I have decided to permanently close Mt. Burney Theatre and Fall River Theatre. Yesterday was my 23rd anniversary of owning this sweet little hometown theater. I enjoyed seeing all of you as you came through the door to see some form of Hollywood magic. I’ve watched local kids grow up and now many of them have children of their own. That’s just amazing.
I worked longer in the theater business than in my former profession that I retired from. It’s kinda hard to wrap my head around that. The years went by quickly because of your enthusiasm.
The 1960’s popcorn machine is my favorite piece of equipment in the Mt. Burney Theatre! I ate popcorn every day for 22 1/2 years and still love it.
I miss movies. I miss you.
Hopefully someone will have a new vision for both Mt. Burney and Fall River Theatres. I’d love to come back as a customer and support them.
Please pass the word that both are for sale and ready to bring cheer, joy and happy memories to everyone.
Thank you for my happy life as your town’s movie theater owner. Your patronage is still very much appreciated.
Let’s get through this horrible pandemic together and move on to healthy and happy days ahead.
Stay safe and enjoy life.

Good evening everyone. I know everyone wants to get out and get this COVID-19 show on the road. I have had quite a few inquiries about when we might open up again.
Since there has been no directive from our governor, I have no idea when he will say it is safe to open movie theaters.

I have been thinking about it a lot. Even when that GO directive comes, I most likely will not open right away. I have no idea what the restrictions and requirements will be. There will be some real challenges. Six feet apart is a lot of space. Cleaning after each show is a time consuming job under normal circumstances. Cleaning and sanitizing the entire theatre before, during and after each showtime will be a real challenge.

I have laid off my staff. So, I will be doing everything from prep to sanitizing and everything in between.

I have been thinking about just opening for BIG movies, ones that I presume will do well. I’m anticipating I will be reaching out for volunteers to help out in the concession area before each showtime.

A lot of people in town don’t wear masks. If I feel I still need to wear a mask, I will require every customer to also wear a mask except while seated in the auditorium and consuming snacks and beverages. Masks will again be required when leaving the auditorium for restroom breaks and when the movie is over.

There will no longer be any refills.

I have always had rules posted in the concession area and the auditorium. They will be strictly enforced.

All of the above is for your safety and mine. Many of us are in the worrisome categories of age and health as they relate to COVID-19.

With that said, I hope you will come to Mt. Burney Theatre when we are open again. The studios have held off releasing their prized movies so they can be seen on the big screen in a communal setting. I love hearing the oohs and ahhs and seeing startled jumps and an occasional scream from the people around me while watching movies in the theatre. There should be some excellent movies coming out for awhile. Then there might be a bleak time when the studios are playing catch up in producing new movies. Who knows???

I’m looking forward to Tenet, Maverick and the new Ghostbusters. How about you?

If you have any comments, leave them here, email me or leave a message on the answering machine. I do listen to them a few times a week.

Enjoy social distancing in this beautiful weather.
