• The Netflix-Paramount-Warner Bros tussle is in the headlines, but BENDING SPOONS is quietly acquiring firms that impact most of us.
• The Italian tech conglomerate paid $1.3B for VIMEO, which subsequently announced two rounds of 1,000+ mass layoffs. Bending Spoons also acquired EVENTBRITE, AOL, MEETUP, WE-TRANSFER, BRIGHTCOVE, FILMIC, EVERNOTE, and MOSAIC, all with large-scale post-sale workforce reductions.
• Higher prices hit both business and consumer users, while the founders have become billionaires.

Bending Spoons remains largely unknown, even as its portfolio of products has served more than a billion people.

GIFT ARTICLE, NO PAYWALL ........... We already knew that the steady decline in movie theater attendance was offset by ticket price increases. Now, the WSJ reports that revenues are falling as well. All of which makes the Warner Bros. acquisition more ominous.

Netflix and Paramount will both eventually have reasons to scale back theatrical releases.

Tickets are now available for some (unintentional) “dog” films at the Garfield!

First up we got “Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted,” a unique, weird and oddly moving documentary about the iconic cult musician, Swamp Dogg!

Right behind, we have Yorgos Lanthimos’ (“Poor Things,” “The Favourite,” “Bugonia”) breakout feature, “DOGTOOTH,” with a brand new 4K Restoration from Kino Lorber!
