The legendary Anna Magnani delivers one of her greatest performances in this under-seen Neo-Realist classic by Luchino Visconti. In BELLISSIMA, Magnani stars as a mother who learns that Cinecittà Studios has a casting call for a child actor. She quickly becomes the ultimate stage mother as she overhauls the life of her seven-year-old daughter (Tina Apicella) and steamrolls over everyone else, including her husband (Gastone Renzelli). Is the price of a chance at fame worth all of costs? “Perhaps the most unjustly neglected of Luchino Visconti’s early films.” – Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader.

Writer-director Na Hong-jin’s brilliant modern classic blends elements of horror and police procedural to create a chilling film that won’t soon be forgotten. After a stranger arrives in a small South Korean village, people become ill, causing them to lose control and murder their own families. The detective assigned becomes personally involved when he must solve the case to save his own daughter. Is this disease biological or something more sinister? “The Wailing takes its time to burrow under your skin, but by the time it weaves its dark, potent spell, it leaves you with a lingering, unshakeable sense of dread that Hollywood horror films can rarely muster.” – David Hughes, Empire Magazine

After her new husband (Sam Neill) sells her beloved piano to a neighbor, George (Harvey Keitel), Ada is given the chance to earn back the piano by teaching its new owner lessons. Ada soon succumbs to her loneliness and George’s passions. “This is cinema that fills every sense.” Lizzie Francke, Sight & Sound.
