Award-Winning Short Films on the Big Screen – October 4
Asbury Shorts is New York City’s longest-running non-competitive short film exhibition and touring show, founded in 1981 by Asbury Short International Films creator Doug LeClaire. Known as a “short film concert,” the two-hour theatrical event showcases an eclectic, fast-paced line-up of internationally recognized comedy, drama, and animated award-winners on real cinema screens rather than online streaming platforms.
Doug LeClaire is the Founder and Director of Asbury Shorts USA, one of the country’s longest-running short-film exhibitions and touring shows. For more than four decades, he has curated and hosted programs featuring award-winning short films for audiences across the U.S. and internationally.
Doug also spent decades working as a line producer and production supervisor in New York television and commercial production, with credits for MTV, Comedy Central, Lifetime and other major networks. Throughout his career, he has worked on productions with acclaimed directors including Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, Michael Bay and Robert Altman, and his work has earned industry recognition including a Clio Award.
Concept: Back-to-back screenings of 10 to 12 globally honored short films, including past classics and current festival honorees.
No Panels: Features zero panel discussions, tedious Q&As, or awards voting—just a direct musical set-list style presentation of cinema.
Audience: Generally recommended for mature audiences aged 16 and older due to adult themes in select independent shorts.
