We first met Kevin in 2012, and after years of him maintaining our cars we became very close- sharing stories and one another dreams back and fourth, meals and so on. One day, in reference to the warehouse across the street from his shop, Kevin told Mike, "you should make your movies and throw your parties in this building." Mike looked at him, already familiar with the building, "No way, Kev! You made a mess in here"... but- Kevin pushed and pushed, and then one day said, "Mike, who else is throwing you keys to a warehouse?"
And the rest is now, a part of Detroit history.
Our community and neighborhood is suffering from a devastating loss this week, due to irresponsible driving. A man ran the stop sign on Benson & Bellevue on April 13th, killing our beloved friend, mentor, father, brother, and Detroit auto legend, Kevin Abbott.
Kevin wanted one thing consistently and that was to see everyone progress, succeed and keep moving up in their life. When all the world all around us is a mess, Kevin always stayed positive was a true a problem solver.
If you needed help, he helped you. No questions asked
Kevin could fix anything.
No matter how far away, what time of day or night, what the weather was, and what was happening in his life- he got you. Whatever you needed.
You can not imagine the amount of people Kevin has helped for over 40+ years working in Detroit.
He never took a break, running a 24-hour business stemmed from passion to fix problems and make your day a better one. We hope you rest easy now dear friend.
We love you Kevin and want you to know that you have made all of us want to be better ourselves and help others.
Keep up the good work wherever you are now, you are already dearly missed!
