Skeleton Keys Open Mic

Skeleton Keys Open Mic Bring your axes, voices and noises to your favorite new open mic! Fresh sounds from feature artists, with a focus on songwriting and rearrangement.

have handy or have been dying to figure out/try or want to give a voice, noise, or to simply create madness with. Of course, gee-tars, vocalists (experienced, not experienced, loud, soft, obnoxious, etc), and more traditional noiseries are also so so welcome; the goal is to encourage the utmost creativity from you, our partners in musical experimentation...nothing is too wild to work on or seek collaboration with (because I guarantee you, at any given time, 20 people, at least, will be dying to give you ideas and offer assistance...if not, flat out be apart of the project in general). If you carry a passion for the relativity of noise, exhibitionism, share a strong passion for learning, and may be willing to step out of their comfort zone in order to see the way (for example) the musical dynamic changes when it is written and worked through alone to working with between 1 to 2 to 20 different contributors.

Not into everyone's feedback? Just want to work out how something works or will work in front of an audience, THEN F***, the least we can do is support the hell out of you :)
We are thrilled about this addition to F8's already eclectic calendar and events and, frankly, the point of this OPEN MIC is NOT to berate, make fun of, or judge anybody. We hope to include folks with a range of skill sets or A SIMPLE THIRST TO LEARN about/hear good music come together and work itself out. We welcome those with an affinity towards banging around garbage lids and Animal (Muppets....duh!) clanging sh*t around all the way to the opposite side of the spectrum to those who carry an interest in John Cage or Andy Warhol's radical theories involving the inclusion of the entire sensory experience in order for art and music in order to escape the way our lives have been molded into thinking that musical instruments are the only true way music can be played. As we discover what works as well as what does not work, we will be offering appetizers/snack foods for your enjoyment as well as running a drink special that[[[[{{ATTENTION!]]]] will feature $1 small cans of PBR from 7-9 pm (extra hour ONLY on LAST TUESDAY OF THE MONTH). This "workshop" will feature artists, with a focus on songwriting and rearrangement as well as visual artists that can/wish to accompany the work of the musicians. Since we know how hard it is for local artists to get a break, during this evening, we would also like to extend an invitation to any local artists selling small portable crafts/wares/jewelry for the evening (BAZAAR STYLE!). If you would like more information on when to show up, what to bring, or any other specifics, please email Rene, our manager for the evening at [email protected]
*****Musicians with questions, please also feel free to shoot out an email inquiring about the kind of equipment we have or you have need for yourselves.*****

Looking forward to rockin it out? Us too......Us too.
