The Palace Theater

The Palace Theater The oldest standing movie theater in the south! Being owned and operated by Bill Roth, the Palace Theater thrived as a community theater from 1913 until 1977.
(481)

During these years the Palace was a focal point on the historic downtown square. After Mr. Roth's death in the early 1990's, the theater was purchased at auction by Johnny and Sonny Garrott and subsequently donated to Greater Gallatin, Inc., a 501(c) 3 organization, for renovation. The property is found to be the oldest silent movie theater still standing in its original location in the State of T

ennessee and therefore was made a local historic landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Funds were raised for the renovation project through private, public, corporate and state donations in excess of $100,000. Greater Gallatin wrote and received a much-needed grant for $300,000 making it possible for our dreams for the Palace to become a reality. Seven years later Greater Gallatin, Inc. opened the Palace Theater doors to the public and once again made it a very viable part of our downtown. Celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2013, the Palace Theater will once again be open for movies in the fall of 2013 when a state of the art digital sound system will be installed. The Palace Theater is also host for the 2013-2014 Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers. The theater is available for movies, lectures, weddings, recitals, concerts and other rental opportunities. The charm and ambience of the historic theater has made it a weekend destination for much of the community. Comedy is coming to The Palace Theater! 🎤

Join us Friday, October 2 at 7 PM for a full night of laughs, live entertainment, and some seriously talented guests right here on the Gallatin Square.

Sumner County’s own Richard Scudder, aka Dicky Scuddz, will host the evening featuring Nashville comedians Rob Wentz and Tylon Monger.

Rob Wentz was named Nashville’s Funniest Comedian in 2024 and is a regular at Zanies, known for his high-energy, unhinged performance style.

Tylon Monger is also a frequent Zanies performer and a regular with Don’t Tell Comedy, with more than 74K followers across social media and millions of likes on his comedy content.

And because one kind of entertainment just wasn’t enough, singer-songwriter Matt McKinney will join us as our special musical guest. Matt has written songs recorded by artists including Ella Langley, Jon Pardi, ERNEST, Jordan Davis, Elle King, Tim McGraw, and Trey Lewis, including the Billboard #1 certified Double-Platinum hit “Dicked Down in Dallas.”
