We're back! It's been a while and it's time we did this again. Come join us Saturday, June 21st for "Remember the Titans", outdoors in the Town Park, 101 Maple Ave, Hobart NY.

We'll start as soon as it's dark enough to see the screen, beginning with a classic cartoon and a fun newsreel. I'll have some refreshments provided, soft drinks & candy, but please feel free to bring your own too, perhaps to share even. Bring a chair, and it can get chilly by the time the movie is over so bring a coat and a blanket too. Hope to see you there!

Sunday evening, December 15th, our annual Hobart Fire Department Kids' Christmas Party and Tree Lighting! Santa will arrive by fire truck after the tree is lit and have presents for all the kids! Lots of refreshments and goodies too. We'll show a couple old favorite Christmas cartoons first, around 5pm, tree lighting around 6pm, presents and pictures with Santa right after that, and then we'll do a main feature of "Miracle on 34th Street" to finish off the evening. Everyone's welcome!

Well, folksies, it's been a while. I've been getting a lot of questions lately about when the movies are starting up again, so maybe it's time. Who's interested? I've got someone who wants to help with publicity & planning, which is a huge bonus. I'm still primarily the tech guy. It would be nice to have a few people who could take on some of the auxiliary tasks, like food & cleanup. Yeah, lots of the attendees chip in and help, but to have someone regularly in charge would be a nice bonus.

So, some questions ...
- How many are interested? Enough to make it a go?
- What kinda movies do ya like?
- Aside from the usual meal, what other sorts of things would you like to see happen?
- Do we want to branch out into more activities like card & board game nights? Trivia? Bingo (just for fun, not for prizes)? Dances?

The Hobart Fire Department needs you!

No, not your money (though of course that always helps), but we need volunteers. Every year we respond to 100 or more emergency calls, from fires and vehicle accidents to heart attacks and falling down stairs. Every one of these calls is someone in your community needing help, and it could be someone close to you who needs help next.

However, we're a small group of people, dedicated yes, but not many of us. It gets tough to answer every call. What we need is more willing members to help share the load.

Anyone can volunteer and we'll train you in whatever areas will work best for you, whether it's frontline firefighting, ambulance crew, back of the scene helpers, drivers, or even "ground crew" who help prepare and clean up. We'll supply all the gear and protective equipment and pay for training. All you have to do is show up and help. Can you answer that call?
