We sold 40 tubs last night for two dollars each and we still have more buckets leftover to get rid of, so we are extending our two dollar tub deal through tonight. That’s right, it’s three dollars Thursday where you can get a large bag of popcorn for three dollars or tonight you can get a small tub of popcorn for two dollars. Where else can you find deals like this? 🍿

It’s heartbreaking to watch theaters across the country continue to close their doors. Rising operating costs, increasing fees, and declining attendance are making it harder than ever for small community theaters to survive.

As a nonprofit historic theater, this is why your support means everything to us. One difficult month can truly make or break organizations like ours.

We know times are hard, and we never take your generosity for granted. But if you’re able, every movie ticket, every bag of popcorn, every snack purchase, and every donation — no matter the size — helps keep our doors open and our mission alive.

LA GRANDE DRIVE-IN ANNOUNCES PERMANENT CLOSURE AND PLANNED SALE

LA GRANDE – It’s the end of an era for local movie lovers and summertime activity enjoyers in Eastern Oregon. On Friday, May 8, the La Grande Drive-in issued a short social media post announcing the permanent closure and planned sale of the drive-in property. Owned and operated alongside the Granada Theater under the La Grande Movies moniker, the drive-in’s post state’s that “the owners have decided not to open, and they have the place for sale.”

Prior to this announcement, The La Grande Drive-in was one of only a dwindling number of drive-in movie theaters left in operation in the entire country, and one of only two in Eastern Oregon. At this time, it has not been publicly announced what led to the decision to shutter and sell the drive-in, if this sale will have any impact on the operations of the primary Granada Theater, or what the property will be used for once sold.

Elkhorn Media Group did reach out to the Granada Theater office for more information. Local staff were unable to give any further details about the situation but did offer to pass on a request for comments to the theater’s current owners. Our newsroom is still waiting for a formal response.

With graduation season upon us, we’ve seen a large uptick in party bag orders. As a general reminder, all orders require 48 hours notice for pickup (excluding Mondays, as we are not open), pre-payment prior to preparation (as once these are popped, they are non-refundable), and all orders can be made online at www.humotatheater.com anytime day or night! We are excited to continue to cater to your popcorn needs all season long, but ask that you remember these bags are only available for pickup between the hours of 6-9pm unless they are picked up during matinees on Saturday and Sundays. Due to our entire staff being comprised of students or individuals with full time second jobs, we do not have the capability to prepare or offer pickup outside of normal business hours at this time. We thank you for your understanding and ongoing support of the Humota Theater. We hope to see you all this weekend!!
