TERRORTHON is back in 16 days and we’ve Frankensteined together a whole weekend of horror classics. Don’t miss FRANKENHOOKER on Sept 26th! From filmmaker Frank Henenlotter, best known for cult horror-comedies like Brain Damage and Basket Case, FRANKENHOOKER is an outrageous early-’90s creature feature steeped in the gleefully transgressive spirit of John Waters. The film follows a junior mad scientist who attempts to reanimate his deceased girlfriend using appendages sourced from the seedier corners of NYC. Equal parts grotesque and hilarious, this instant cult classic has since been embraced within q***r horror cinema for its camp sensibility and themes of bodily autonomy. A true crowd-pleaser best experienced with an audience!

The conclusion to George A. Romero’s landmark “Dead” trilogy follows a group of scientists and soldiers taking refuge in an underground missile silo in Florida while the undead dominate the outside world. As tensions rise between the military and scientific factions over how to confront the flesh-eating apocalypse, one researcher makes a startling discovery after attempting to train a zombie known as Bub. Showcasing gut-churning practical effects by Tom Savini, DAY OF THE DEAD remains the trilogy’s most underrated — and eerily prophetic — chapter.

TEENAGE S*X & DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA starts a 1 week run on screen at our nonprofit theater Friday September 4th. Tickets & showtimes will be available Tuesday at hiwaytheater.org

This genre-bending horror film from writer-director Jane Schoenbrun (I Saw the TV Glow) follows a young filmmaker tasked with reviving a fading slasher franchise. When she travels to a remote cabin to meet the star of the original film, she forms an increasingly intimate creative relationship with the reclusive actress. A surreal, q***r exploration of identity, desire, and memory, TEENAGE S*X AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA stars Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson and earned high praise at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
