Established in 2018, Stray Cat Film Center is Kansas City's only non-profit microcinema! Stray Cat Film Center is located in Kansas City, MO since August 2018.

We are a fantastically funky DIY micro-cinema that makes provocative cinema accessible to underserved audiences in the Kansas City area. The theater hosts screenings of lost, forgotten or disenfranchised films, host educational programs and acts a screening room for prospective filmmakers. 😈 TIME TO GET DEMONIC 😈

FREE! Next Weds @ 7pm. What could have possessed us to continue our Year of the Monsters film series by showing a movie about demons in October? What movie, you ask? That's a surprise, but we'll give you a few hints: It's one of Orrin's favorites; it actually takes place in October (but not on Halloween); and it comes from a short story by M. R. James.

What is it? The only way to know for sure is to come join us for a FREE screening , then stick around after the show as Tyler and Orrin host a live podcast discussing their own demonic influences, complete with infernally good giveaways!

Live Q&A w/ Producer Veronika Payton!

Weds, 10/21 @ 7pm! Part documentary and part horror film. Andrew Rakich's (YouTube's Atun Shei films and THE SUDBURY DEVIL) newest feature finally arrives in Kansas City for night of vampires, historical reckonings, perversion, and social awareness as we screen THE VAMPIRES OF NEW ORLEANS!

A trio of vampires have invaded New Orleans. After local Shania Jackson is murdered by Jean-Louis D’Hemecourt, her sister, Brigitte, her aunt Saffron, and spirit-talker Dr. Tom team up to avenge Shania by putting an end to the set of bloodsuckers. Combining vampire lore with commentary on capitalism and racism, THE VAMPIRES OF NEW ORLEANS is a one of kind works that interrogates the way we continue to mythologize and downplay the tragedies that America inflicted and continue to inflict upon it's black population.

KC PREMIER NEXT WEDS @ 7PM!

Join us for the Kansas City premiere of THE VAMPIRES OF NEW ORLEANS, a groundbreaking new docudrama combining Southern Gothic terror with investigations into the city's real-life folklore.

Produced entirely locally by the dedicated filmmaking troupe behind the popular YouTube channel Atun-Shei Films, whose first feature THE SUDBURY DEVIL was lauded by Dread Central as the best independent horror film of 2023, this film rips away the tourist kitsch and tired literary tropes of the New Orleans vampire to reveal the seething historical injustices lurking just beneath the surface. The Vampires of New Orleans is a genuine epic of tortured Americana, featuring the rigorous research, cinematic flair, and punk rock sensibility that could only come from Atun-Shei Films.

This Saturday, 10/10 @ 7pm, check out this sometimes funny, often poignant portrait of five young women trying to survive young adulthood in Incheon, Korea with TAKE CARE OF MY CAT.

Originally released in 2001, this film is both a clever and sentimental look at the challenging transition from student life to career growth and a surprisingly potent commentary on hypermodernization and the forthcoming effects that Korea’s latent interest in globalization would have on young people looking to make a life for themselves.

This Korean coming-of-age film has brought audiences to it over and over again through the decades. While not making a huge splash in 2001, multiple revival efforts have shown a love for this tender film that offers a glimpse at youthhood in Incheon in the new millennium.

Vampirism has never felt more jarringly realistic, flawed, and terrifyingly human against the backdrop of 90s New York as Ferrara continued his most prolific decade mixing, Hip-hop, philosophy, and addiction metaphors. When grad student Kathleen (90s tour de force Lili Talyor) is bitten by a vampire, she must navigate the darkness while tempering her unquenchable thirst for blood.

Stylish, gritty, raw, and intelligent, THE ADDICTION is beautifully shot masterpiece of 90s genre cinema.
