State City Films A Kansas City media house focused on art and documentary filmmaking. Mikal Shapiro has worked on commercial, non-profit and independent productions since 2008.

State City Films is a new media house based in Kansas City, Missouri and founded by filmmaker-musician Mikal Shapiro. The mission of SCF is to create content that amplifies independent voices and tell stories that ache to be told through documentary and experimental filmmaking practices. She received her MFA in Film/Video/New Media/Animation from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2012.
