We’re not just famous for our pizza and cheesesteaks! Jersey Devil lure has been sprinkled throughout our area since the early 1900s through present day. Did you know there was an uptick in reported sighting since the famous drone incident in NJ? Have you heard any good stories? Better yet- have you personally met? 😮🫣👹

The Jersey Devil is a figure deeply woven into the beliefs of those living in the Pine Barrens—a vast, densely forested region in the state of New Jersey.

The story dates back to the 18th century, centering around a woman known as Mother Leeds. According to legend, upon discovering she was pregnant for the thirteenth time, she cursed her unborn child out of sheer desperation. When the baby was born, it was no ordinary infant; instead, it transformed into a monstrosity with cloven hooves, leathery wings, a long tail, and the head of a horse. Moments after its birth, the creature unfurled its wings, escaped up the chimney, and vanished into the dark woods of the Pine Barrens.

Over the years, countless accounts of encounters with this ghastly entity have surfaced. As early as the 19th century, farmers reported a mysterious predator preying on their livestock, and by the 20th century, stories emerged of ominous, winged shadows flitting over the treetops. In 1909, the wave of sightings reached such a fever pitch that schools and factories were forced to shut down across parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
