The Mahoning Drive-In Theater is located on Seneca Road west of Lehighton, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1947, and opened for its first season the following year. Since then, it has entertained moviegoers for over half a century on the largest CinemaScope screen in Pennsylvania! Our goal: to deliver you a true love of film, film-making, and the nostalgic moviegoing experience you can only get at the drive-in!

The outpouring of love has been truly remarkable.. The event has taken on a life of its own;) On Thursday, September 10th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater in Lehighton PA invites all cat fanciers from far and wide to join us for The Mahoning Lot Cats Fundraiser Event, a special one-night-only double feature in aid of our ever-growing population of Kitty City on the Drive-In lot!

Every year a few stray cats find their way to the Mahoning, attracted no doubt by the steady supply of popcorn and classic films. Our staff feed and care for them, finding homes for all at season’s end, but this year we’ve got a lot more in the meow mix, with almost two dozen feral feline friends taking up residence in and around the theater.

In an effort to get these little critters with a case of the friskies fixed, healthy, and homed, we’re holding this special fundraiser to help pay for necessary procedures, medicine, and fees, and get the p***y population ready for adoption and forever homes.

Just like the total number of lot cats and where they came from, we’re keeping the film titles a mystery until they hit the screen, a pawesome pair of feline-focused flicks sure to make you purr with delight! First up will be a family-friendly furry frolic, followed after intermission by an R-rated scary scratcher not for scaredy-cats!

We will have Limited Edition Merchandise, Themed Concessions, Costumed Characters, Live DJ and much more!

Bring along your cat food, cat toys and other kitty items for our 20 donation boxes. These will be donated to each lot cat to get them settled into their new homes.

Gates open at 6pm, showtime at 7:30!

🎃Spooky Season Has Arrived!🎃
While most drive-ins are winding down their calendars across the country, The Mahoning is gearing up for our busiest time of the year!!

With fall sweeping in, leaves beginning to change colors and chill hits the night air; there is just something so special about The Mahoning experience.. In preparation, we have a fresh run of seasonal merchandise and souvenir items in the stand for your next visit!

For those who may not know, a huge part of our local traffic comes from the tourist appeal in Jim Thorpe just up the road from us.. And once fall hits we see the picturesque town swarmed with folks who love to take in the fall foliage!

Be sure to set your schedules for a few more visits before we hit our Winter Slumber on November 1..

On Sunday, September 20th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater continues our “Indie Darlings” series with the first film by Quentin Tarantino, the heist-gone-wrong ensemble tough guy classic, RESERVOIR DOGS (1992).

Join Mr. White, Mr. Orange, Mr. Blonde, Mr. Pink, Mr, Blue, and Mr. Brown, as they plan and execute (poorly) a bank heist, under the watchful eyes of Big Joe and Nice Guy Eddie, and try to figure out which one of them is the rat that made the whole caper go south.

An indie hit that instantly made the world stand up and take notice of writer/director Tarantino, with a rock-solid cast, rapid-fire dialogue and a killer soundtrack, RESERVOIR DOGS barely played theaters before exploding on home video and making Tarantino a much sought-after A-List director and screenwriter in the 90s.

With Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Steve Buscemi, Edward Bunker, Tim Roth, Chris Penn, Lawrence Tierney, and Quentin Tarantino.

“Indie Darlings” is an ongoing series at The Mahoning Drive-In Theater, presenting films made by pioneers of the indie spirit, as well as notable independent films that made waves upon initial release, whose ripples are still felt to this day.

The Mahoning Drive-In Theater in Lehighton, Pennsylvania presents the return of our MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 Ultimate Fan Event, with MST3K hosts Johan Ray and Emily Marsh in person for a two-night MST3K fan celebration September 11th-12th!

Fans can thrill to MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER episodes personally selected by the MST3K team on the giant outdoor screen, a special 35mm feature each night, LIVE riffing with Matt McGinnis, Jonah and Emily, and more fun!

Jonah, Emily, Matt, and Harold will meet fans in a special VIP Q+A photo op before the show, and available for General Admission ticket holders before and between the films once the gate opens. Also, they will introduce the movies and judge a costume contest where YOU can dress up as your favorite MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER character, or character from a film riffed on the show!

Friday night launches us into the cosmos with Matt McGinnis’ Movie Riffing Melee, featuring Jonah and Emily, verbally tapdancing all over the film J.R. shot, BEWARE! THE BLOB (1972)! Then, it’s time to join Jonah on the Satellite Of Love for the best Season 11 MST3K episode featuring a boy and his subservient Sasquatch, CRY WILDERNESS (1987), hosted by Jonah and the bots! We end the evening with a special 35mm screening of the classic MST3K Season 7 favorite, LASERBLAST (1978).

Saturday kicks off with a super-secret title you won’t believe, getting the live improv riff treatment by our trio of riffmaster generals, Jonah, Emily, and Matt! Then it’s back to interstellar experimentation as Emily is forced to endure the strange physicianship of DOCTOR MORDRID in a favorite MST3K episode from deep in Season 13! The evening wraps up with a 35mm presentation of MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: THE MOVIE (1996), in which Mike and the bots take on the Sci-Fi classic THIS ISLAND EARTH!
