The iconic photo first went viral in 2019 and sparked an entire internet horror phenomenon. For years, no one knew where it came from...
In 2024, it was finally traced back to Oshkosh, WI, to a 2003 renovation photo taken inside the former Rohner’s Furniture building on Oregon Street as it was being converted into HobbyTown.
That eerie yellow room no longer exists. The space has since been transformed into Revolution Raceway.
Now, there’s a BACKROOMS billboard in downtown Oshkosh, not too far from where the lore began.
