Tomorrow, we are premiering Pressure on the big screen.
Set during the grueling 72 hours leading up to D-Day, the film follows British meteorologist Captain James Stagg and General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Together, they face an agonizing, impossible calculation: do they launch the largest seaborne invasion in human history into a catastrophic, unpredictable storm, or delay and risk losing World War II altogether?

It’s a gripping look at the staggering weight of leadership, historical strategy, and the literal weather forecast. Talk about high stakes.

Because planning a massive military operation requires peak brain food, we’ve prepped your tactical dinner pairings:

The "General Eisenhower" Burrito: Loaded with Honey Habanero Beef. It’s commanding, structurally sound, and brings serious authority (and heat) to the table.

The "Barometric Pressure" Nachos: Piled so high with melted cheese and jalapeños they practically have their own weather system.

Tactical Lime Chicken Tacos: Crisp, reliable, and your best frontline defense against movie-induced anxiety.

Marquis Pro-Tip: Much like Ike, you have to make a tough choice. Do you eat your tacos during the trailers, or strategically save them for the second act?

SHOWTIMES (TOMORROW, MAY 28): 2 PM | 6 PM
History buffs and taco lovers, let’s hear it: If the fate of the free world rested entirely on your shoulders, what is the one Marquis menu item you’d need in front of you to keep your cool?

Drop your comments below, grab your tickets via the link in our bio, and we'll see you at the theater tomorrow!

Dobby Has No Master, But He Could Use A Roast

Grab your flying Fords and watch out for the Whomping Willow. We’re heading back to Hogwarts for a Movie Roast of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. We’re diving into the 161-minute runtime to figure out why a school for children has a death-snake in the plumbing and why Gilderoy Lockhart isn't allowed within fifty feet of the potions classroom.

The Roasting Squad:

Host Pierre Vachon: Questioning why the Basilisk’s only weakness is a bird and an old hat.

Art Monaghan: Providing the "expert" commentary on 2002-era CGI.

Hickory the Drunk and Underwhelming: Mostly just here for the beer and to heckle the spiders.

The "Secret" Menu:
Fuel up for the snark with our Honey Habanero Beef Nachos—they have more bite than a Basilisk fang. If you’re feeling more heroic, try the Lime Chicken Tacos or a Bean and Cheese Burrito. Unlike Hagrid’s cooking, our food won't require a trip to the hospital wing.

The Critics Corner:
Even with an 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, critics noted the absurdity, with one calling the film: "A violent flurry of 'stab and repeat'... appallingly, overwhelmingly stupid even by the standards of the franchise." Wait, that was the review for Friday the 13th. For Harry Potter, they said:"It’s a bit like being trapped in a giant toy store with a very loud, very long-winded toddler." We’ll be the toddlers tonight.

Question: Which Harry Potter character deserves the biggest roast? Tell us in the comments.

The Marquis Theatre | MNFF Selects: Secret Mall Apartment

In 2003, eight Rhode Island artists did what most of us only joke about: they moved into the mall. In a story where truth is truly stranger than fiction, these individuals built a secret apartment inside the busy Providence Place Mall and lived there for four years without security ever knowing.

They smuggled in two tons of cinderblock, tapped into the mall’s power, and filmed the entire journey. What started as an audacious experiment became a deeply meaningful sanctuary for everyone involved.

Join us Wednesday, May 13 at 7 PM for a screening of this entertaining documentary, followed by a live Zoom Q&A with director Jeremy Workman and producer Matthew Spain.

Event Details:

Date: Wednesday, May 13

Time: 7:00 PM

Tickets: $14 Advance (On sale now) | $16 Night of Show

They’ve heard the stories. Now, they’re finishing the final chapter. 📖🐑

This Friday, witness the premiere of Sheep Detective at The Marquis.

The Case: George Hardy was just a simple shepherd who spent his evenings reading murder mysteries to his flock. He thought they were just good listeners—he didn't realize they were taking notes. When George is found dead under mysterious circumstances, his sheep decide to trade the meadow for the mean streets to find his killer. 🕵️‍♂️

It’s a tale of wool, wit, and the realization that the human world is a lot messier than a paperback novel.

The Strategy: Solving a murder is hungry work. We suggest the Honey Habanero Beef Burrito to keep your brain sharp while you track the clues. 🌯🔥

Trivia: To prepare for their roles, the lead sheep reportedly spent three months "method acting" in a library. (Okay, we made that up, but the movie is still a masterpiece).
