It really comes down to the scope of what we are bringing versus the simplicity of the expectation termed as a "drive-in".

(We have a $3M investment in the arcade games, pinball machines and kids inflatables alone for this project. Not budgeted, already procured.)

For those of you that understand the movie theater business, that is a lot of movie admission tickets at only 10% profit.

Our goal is to offer a variety of well made concessions and dinner offerings all while making it affordable to the community.

There is no malice or evil plan to distract the community with a larger than life project just to sell popcorn & ice cream. (Have to admit. Those comments cracked me up.)

Wait, now I get it....
"Universal Studios Orlando opening King Kong The Ride next summer"....
It was all just marketing to sell frozen bananas.

Try not to get too mad at us for trying to doing something right. This project is about movies, families, quality food and fun at affordable prices.

1st Drive-In Theater to open in California (1935)

06/12/2014

Well.... as everyone knows, we have been actively pursuing bringing a competitively priced, 1st run movie, 2 screen drive-in theater to Murfreesboro and over the past 9 months, we have learned a lot.

#1 - To negotiate, acquire and offer 1st run films affordably, the more movie screens you have, the better.

Therefore, our plans have been expanded from the original 2 screen concept to include a 3rd drive-in movie theater screen.

Obviously in our case, to have more movie screens and sufficient parking, we had to acquire more land. As of June 16th, we will take possession of another 8 acres adjacent to this property acquired for the drive-in project. (Special thanks to the Davis and Baskin families who have owned these properties since the 1800's.) This means another movie screen, two more movies to select from each night, additional parking and a longer, wider entrance to the ticket booth which will remove more cars from the street during admission hours, etc. (All of which should make the planning commission very happy.)

Hopefully the community understands that we haven't been making frequent announcements simply because we did not want to add any undue pressure on these families while they were making their decisions.

Now, for a number of reasons we are behind our initial construction schedule and many of our contractors took other jobs in the interim while we waited for a response regarding the property (if you haven't noticed, everyone seems to be building something in Rutherford County these days). As of this week, every contractor has been notified to resubmit their bids and their project timelines.

We will continue to keep the community posted as to our progress.
